Default Renault Nissan to manufacture Engines in India

Renault Nissan alliance is planning to commence engine manufacturing in India next year.

Nissan is interested to make engines locally for the upcoming Datsun products, whereas Renault is keen to use the locally manufactured engine for their small vehicle under works targeted for emerging markets.

The targeted price of the Datsun range is impossible to be achieved without a locally manufactured engine, hence the move.

Default Re: Renault Nissan to manufacture Engines in India

Renault-Nissan is developing an 800cc engine in India to take on Alto & Eon!

With three brands (Renault, Nissan and Datsun), the combined entity is gearing up for a massive onslaught in the entry level segment.

Renault-Nissan Alliance is developing an 800cc engine (most probably a petrol motor) from scratch at its tech centre in India. He added that the new compact motor will be first used in the new model that is due for 2015.
E
xpect the motor to debut in Datsunís second small car (codenamed I2) that will sit below the Go. Renaultís A-Entry car is also a very strong candidate for the new engine.

Maruti and Hyundai, the small car stalwarts of India are the targets for Reault- Nissan.
