Hoping that Nissan has something competitive to offer so that I can shift from my endless waiting for Ecosport to the Terrano.

In the exact same boat and these prices fail to cheer me up. I think I'll have to continue waiting for my Ecosport!

Hold your horses, guys. These are ex-Chennai prices. Lets wait for the ex-Delhi numbers.

Surprised that Nissan's website is still showing pre-booking information

@GTO,

If the Terrano prices reported as Ex-Chennai, then they are lower than Duster!

I went to Renault site and checked top end 85 pricing. Its 11.16 Ex-Chennai. While the price of XL 85 Plus Terrano says 10.92! Am I missing some thing, or we should wait for the dust to settle and then take fresh re-look?

I was surprised too, but after the excitement lowered, I realized that the Duster RXL (O) was upgraded after launch and includes the touchscreen SatNav system, while the top-end Terrano 85PS just has the regular music system.

Agreed. Which means it wont be an apple to apple comparison between the two, trim by trim. Because Duster RXL 85 seriously lacks equipment levels.

Wow. For a different color interior, new grill and sexy alloys, you have to pay a premium of 40,000 rupees??? Dunno if it's worth it, especially since the top end Duster has the touchscreen and steering column audio controls that are accessories on the Terrano. here's a quick and dirty excel comparo

Apart from badge engineering, there is one thing that has partly Nissan written over it. The K9K engine.

http://www.daciagroup.com/en/about-u...issan-alliance

The companies independently build their brand image across the globe and have their own service networks. The customers identify with their brand and quality of service rather than the vehicle.

So, there might be similarities in the vehicle, what matters is the long term relationship with their customers.

The prices are as expected. Rather the 40k premium one pays for the Terrano over the Duster is actually less than the speculated premium of 50-70k!

There are no tangible benefits of buying a Terrano over the Duster except the fresher look, mild interior changes and smarter alloys. People looking to buy a Japanese workhorse are essentially buying the Terrano for the brand name it carries and should realize that they're in fact betting on the tried and tested French engine that powers the lower priced competitor.

In either case, there will be some takers for the Terrano but no way this is going to be a runaway success as did the Duster for the Renault brand or the Ecosport for Ford.

With that said, now where is that Official Team-Bhp Terrano review?

The Diesel Base Version of the Duster is 8.73 lakhs ex showroom and that of the Nissan Terrano is 9.60 Lakhs ex Showroom Delhi. That is a difference of 87000/- for only some cosmetic changes... add to that the extra amounts to be paid for road tax, registration etc and the fact that duster is offering discounts of about 15000-30000 makes it a difference of almost 120000. Not VFM in my opinion.
