Default 1 month old Ford EcoSport @ 1 RUPEE

Came across an interesting add on Olx, Pune for an Ford Ecosport @ Rs. 1. The owner seems to be too upset with vehicle & the problems since he has bought it, being tired he has put it up for sale at Rs. 1.

Here is the link to the add http://pune.olx.in/ford-ecosport-1-m...-iid-539937444

Mods; did not find any similar post hence started a new thread, if not appropriate kindly advice.

Cheers!
HZS

The link that you have posted is of no use as the person has not provided his email or telephone number. Its just someone who is trying to bad mouth Ford is what I can think of.

Yup. It's clearly a hater post. However, he provided a phone number in that add but don't know if its working or not.

Most online trading sites don't encourage putting phone numbers or email address. There is a unique reply-id for each ad. Anyways, we won't know whether it's genuine or not. If vehicle needs 8 replacement parts in 1 month, it's a pure 'lemon'. It's just unfortunate.
What I'm happy seeing is, of late customers are becoming more vocal and confront the manufacturer/dealers like never before. We have seen several such unique ways found to either shame or seek attention from concerned authorities.
Examples like this will help bringing some seriousness in this industry, where government doesn't really care.

If one closely looks at the ad which has been put up by the disgruntled owner, it seems that most of the problems are related to vehicle electricals.

The job card clearly mentions Washer motor switch, indicator switch, instrument panel (i.p.wiring), the BCM (Body Control Module) and some other line item which could not be deciphered. Out of all these, the BCM issue, if true, is indeed worrisome as the BCM integrates a whole lot of vehicle electronic functions.

Let's hope this is a one off case and Ford will do a thorough fault/failure analysis to eliminate the root cause of all the problems.

Coming close on the heels of the Ecosport Diesel recall for re-locating glow plug control modules, any potential glitches is best avoided for the sake of adverse publicity.

With most owners getting hold of their cars only a month or so ago, I dont think the owner could have got such a service bill any case. Looks like he is stuck with a 'lemon'.

The ad is just for gathering publicity, maybe to strengthen his case against Ford for a replacement car.

He also says Free at the top of the page. If he really doesn't want the car he could as well leave the car somewhere with the keys.
All for negative publicity

I presume you were speaking in a figurative sense but still, not transferring ownership of any motorized vehicle is very risky. :-)

Cheers,

Jay

Speculation Alert: Given the submerged Dusters at a dealer yard we recently saw in another thread, and the opinion that in this case electricals would most likely be effected even after a clean up job, could it be possible this is a flood affected vehicle?

Just noted the add has been pulled down.

Well the point of putting it here is not go Ford bashing or looking at the motive of the individual, but to look at things from a different point of view.

In the above case it was Ford; we have seen the cases of Germans/European vehicles on flat bed's, Tata catching fire, Chevy involved in a 2009 vehicle sold as 2011 or the Audi A4 case too.

All cases have various reasoning/situations for vehicles going bust. I like the idea of fellow members bring it out here to the notice of the fellow community members but at the same time we cant label any one manufacturer as bad.

What I suggest is having a dedicated section on the forum where such lemon cases are reported & the corrective measures the manufacturer took to set things right for the customer are documented. We should also have the threads updated with the approach of the customer to have their issues corrected, this will help the community and with 'Google' showing team-bhp results mostly on pg-1 any layman too will benefit from this.

Cheers,
HZS
