Spotted this test mule in Pune city.

Since exterior shots were already doing rounds on forums, decided to get the interior shot for the benefit of enthusiasts. Car was not stationary at any given point of time, therefore could manage only the picture of center console. Car was emitting a lot of black smoke.

Tata -- Dont use any naming from the past stables. No Revotron business.

The car looks quite well with decent interiors. Your suggested formlua for success.
- Get a ARAI number of 20+ kmpl.
- Light kerb weight but well built and well screwed together (learn more from Hyundai, less from Maruti).
- Price the Top end petrol <= 4.25 ex-showroom with ABS, dual airbags, rear wiper, defogger.
- Electric mirrors = yes. Auto-folding = No. Fair to save some cost here.
- No climate control obviously
- Sell the audio system, alloy wheels and front fogs as accessories for base pricing gains.

For diesel, wait for Celerio's diesel response and analyse well. Power numbers speculated here for the Dicor look impressive tough. Hope it has the smoothness and fairly linear power delivery too.

Given that Celerio ZXI AMT is 4.99lacs ex.showroom Delhi, 4.25lacs sounds about right. But feature on feature, it will come well kitted and with 2airbags, i might add another 25k to the price.

Both the Tata Glade/Kite test mules that were doing test runs together hit by a truck during test on Pune-Bangalore Highway. Luckily driver & crew of both the test mules were safe and unharmed.

The accident occurred a few minutes ago, says Rushlane reader Yashanand, who was on his way to Flame Institute. He said that there were two Tata Glade hatchbacks, both of which were affected in the accident. Of the two, one got heavily damaged, while the other escaped with minor scratches. Driver and crew of both the Tata test mules were safe and unharmed.

Speaking about the accident, Yashanand says that the two cars were heading towards Bangalore. Both Tata Kite test mules were travelling at a good cruising speed of about 60-80 kmph. Due to the construction work of flyovers on this particular stretch, there are many diversions. It is at one such diversion, this accident took place. What makes it more dangerous is the absence of street lights.

When the Tata test mules took one such diversion, they were unaware what was in store. Out of nowhere, a truck came in from the flyover construction side on the left, and hit them hard. One of the Test mule’s front right wheel came off the axle due to the impact, while the other test mule had time to brake, and saved itself from a much damage.

Sadly, even though the truck driver realized it was his mistake, he reversed his truck, and manoeuvred it out of the damaged Tata Kite’s path. He then continued his way towards Bangalore.

As it was pitch dark, the two damaged Tata cars were now stranded in the middle of the road. The second car managed to move itself out of the road, and parked on the side. The driver then covered the car. But the first car, it is still stuck in the middle of the road, waiting for highway assistance.

The hatch kind of looks like that of Grand i10. The interiors seem good.

Thankfully nothing happened to the drivers, though they ended up as live crash test dummies. The photos of the crash are not clear. I wanted to see how the car handled the crash damage. As in did the passenger compartment hold up well?

Looks like projector headlamps. Should be the top spec variant.

Those look like the regular reflectors from the halogen bulb assembly. Refer the snaps in post #130.

They should prepare a genuine hot hatch variant of this car. My recipe
1) all black interiors with red piping of seats + a red streak running across the dashboard and grille
2) 7 inch HK infotainment system from the Hexa concept
3) 120bhp motor from the Bolt sports concept /110bhp 1.5 diesel being prepared for the Nexon
4) 16inch wheels
5) 6 speed gearbox
6) fattest possible rubber that the wheels can take up.
7) Suspension biased towards handling
8) additionally power folding wing mirrors, reverse guide, powered drivers seat, AC vent for rear seats. Atleast 3 power outlets

Price it at 6.50 Lacs for Petrol and 7.5 Lacs for diesel and I bet they would love the demand and supply problem it would get into

I will buy any TATA hatchback only if :

1. It does not have the smiley shaped grill and ridiculously stretched back headlamp units.
- Would rather prefer the grill & headlamp units like Civic. I do not wish headlamps to occupy the large portion of front edges of bonnet.

2. It's C pillar angle & rear door design is different than Zest or Indica.
- Cut short the quarter glass and give some sharp lines like Beat or Swift.

3. It's hatch door does not look like a big belly.
- Breath out and pull the belly inside, take a queue from i30.

4. It's rear lamps are not borrowed from Bolt and look complete.
- Look at your own Jaguar, it's perfectly alright to integrate some portion of rear lamps into the hatch door and side panels to make it look complete.

5. It's rear wheels are pushed a bit forward / Beefy rear bumper to make the side profile look complete.
- Take an i20, look at it's side profile, rear bumper and side profile feels complete unlike Bolt.

All the best TATA !!!

As of now, Kite test mules carry the rear doors, radiator grill, headlamp units from Bolt / Zest, maybe in a scaled down form / fitted in different angles. Have seen the Kite in person but unfortunately could not take the front pictures.

In terms of design, USP is only the rear end. Quite identical to Polo. Beefed up bumper towards edges like Beat. A visible spoiler. Finally, Something different on TATA cars.

Seriously I do not wish Kite to be the baby version of Indica / Vista with a different rear end.

Default Spyshots - compact hatch diesel

Hi guys,

I have no idea where to post this. Is there a separate spyshots thread where we could randomly post spyshots of cars?

I spotted this hatch early Thursday morning near Madiwala en route to pick my sister.

Any idea what it could be?

Mods - please assist in putting it in the right thread.

Thanks!
