Tata, to become successful, please make sure your dealers love selling your cars. The staff never will never say anything good about Tata cars (even about punto !)

To gain market share, somehow get a killer pricing - like the innova launch. Slowly increase the prices till you reach the break even. Make it volume changer. While it would not make sense to you, think about launching Zica at 2.75-3.00 Lakh range - give the goodies that you wanted to give. Get people to buy them in big numbers and then slowly increase the price (not sacrificing on quality)

Also, please scan the news and social media, counter the ones who keep saying that Tata is bad with valid & good points on product quality than silence. Share stories of customers who are satisfed with long term reliability, service costs. etc. Listen to customer feedback more thoroughly.

Such a price range would overlap the GenX Nano top-end variants - highly improbable, though no harm in wishing for it.

From the facts emerging, Zica could be the new entry level car from Tata to consider for the safety conscious with the options of Airbags / ABS etc.

Given the lack of such safety options in the GenX Nano, the option of all these features and a Diesel AMT as reported could be just what the doctor ordered, if priced attractively.

About this guy tweeting,

He lost all credibility with the first tweet...
"the most innovative thing I have seen in a small car"... The pocket in the backseat.

FYI my Nano has it since 2012.

So,
1. They guy is not updated
2. The guy is not in sync with reality
3. His definition are askew

And definitely biased.
Definitely.

It's not the first time 'someone' has tried to run negative publicity stunts against Tata.

IMHO its a known tactic.
Something Tata or Mahindra never resort too.
But that doesn't mean others won't.

I just feel a little sorry.
For Tata and this guy.

This is a genuine good attempt.
And 99% it's finding a home in my stable.

Test drive and pricing (in that order) will be the key.

A walk around of Tata Zica

My 1st impression :- Tata's have come a long long way since the 00's Indica and is not far of from the segment leader.

Why are they calling it Z-ai-ca? Isn't it supposed to be Z-ee-ca? Beats the logic of calling it ZIppy CAr.

Same feelings when I saw the tweet.
But was not sure, and thus was waiting to go home and confirm first.
Ignorant or intentional don't know

This back of the seat toolkit holder is there in my first gen nano as well!

And to add, its been running completely reliably and my experience with service centre has been fine barring initial experience with a service centre which shut down eventually (Techno Delhi).

Tata has upped its game for sure. But I guess the problem will be that of perception. Anyone with even a passing interest in the automotive industry will acknowledge that the Tata Zest is a better engineered, newer, stronger and better looking car than the Suzuki Dzire. But what do the numbers say? Has the Zest even remotely made a dent in the market leader's numbers?

Tata needs to come up with something radical - like a 100,000 km warranty and a guaranteed buy-back price which will match the price of the competing Suzuki model as far as you upgrade to a newer Tata car. I have had my Linea serviced at Tata Motors and I saw Jaguars being serviced there too. They were always professional and prompt.

Having said that I still can't convince anyone in my family to even visit a Tata showroom - let alone Test Drive one. More chances of it snowing in Bombay than of them letting me buy one.

Note from Support: The OT posts concerning Tata cars' reliability have been moved to this thread - Tata cars - Reliability and service?

Please stick to the Zica and the discussions about it on this thread. Thanks!

Spotted Zica media drive cars in South Goa. The Orange Color looks fabulous on the car.

this looks good but is it just me or this car still has not been able to get rid of its age old cousin indica looks ? Never the less provided that the car is priced right it should be able to sell in decent numbers as it looks fresh and is a design which pleases most eyes and not a hate it love it kind of design. zica in assamese means Ridge Gourd/ Chinese Okra
