| Senior - BHPian | I recently found this website and visited Suzuki pakistan and here is what I see maruti 800 better than Suzuki Mehran maruti Alto better than Suzuki Alto maruti Esteem better than suzuki Cultus maruti baleno Killed by Suzuki Liana maruti Omni ties with Suzuki Bolan maruti Gypsy wins against suzuki Potohar maruti Versa crushed by Suzuki APV maruti xl-7 = Suzuki xl-7 suzuki Jimmy has no competition maruti swift has no competition WagonR has not competition Zen has no competition While still low on product options, its worth noticing that while economical products are still a forte of Maruti Udyog in India, it takes a beating in higher segments. Liana, APV and Jimmy are products that can take maruti a step further. Then why is maruti still producing Baleno and versa? While Aveo and Fiesta have been launced, and Scorpio, tavera and Innova are grabbing the MPv pie. Maruti Udyog is solely missing in these markets with Baleno not exactly a sales chart success and Versa succumbing to an instant failure in sales. suzuki Pakistan http://64.5.40.18/paksuzuki/jimny.html maruti-suzuki India http://www.marutiudyog.com/index.asp Last edited by devarshi84 : 12th June 2006 at 10:29. |

| Senior - BHPian | Hey Devarshi, one correction. Maruti Alto is 800 cc, where as Pak Suzuki Alto is 970cc which is the Maruti Zen engine. So Pak Alto= Maruti Zen. |

| Senior - BHPian | I wonder if Liana is in the pipeline soon too? And I also hope they bring APV here to replace versa. Innova and tavera will hide in shame. Where is the jimmy? |

| Senior - BHPian | the liana is one car that was really destined for india......had they killed the baleno name and gone ahead with this contemporary product it would have been a very good placement in india......but alas. |

| The prices consumers pay in PAKISTAN is MORE compared to INDIA of the same model for example take the example of the MARUTI 800 / SUZUKI MEHRAN [1] MARUTI SUZUKI 800/Non AC(ex-showroom price): Rs.1,95,000 [2] SUZUKI MEHRAN/Non AC (ex-showroom price): Rs.3,15,000 (Pakistani Rupee)(converted to Indian Rs. 3,15,000/1.3=Rs.2,42,000) Which means [1] Pakistanis are paying about Rs(Indian)47,000 more for the same model ie. MARUTI 800/SUZUKI MEHRAN [2] Also Suzuki model in Pakistan don't have MPFI Systems, so add about another Rs.10,000 extra. [3] Which ultimately means that Pakistanis are paying about Rs.57,000 (Indian Rs.) more for the base model of the MARUTI 800/SUZUKI Mehran Similar is the case with all the other models which are common to INDIA and PAKISTAN. Check out the price list of Pakistani cars at http://www.pakwheels.com/pricelist.asp Agreed PAKSUZUKI manufactures the [1] LIANA and IMPORTS two models to PAKISTAN which are not available in INDIA. Viz. [1] APV [2] JIMNY But MARUTI SUZUKI does manufacture the SWIFT in INDIA which is not available in PAKISTAN |

| The Price of the JIMNY and APV (Imported) if converted into Indian currency, it comes to about Rs.8,00,000 Which would be too high. A customer in India can go the much bigger SCORPIO or INNOVA which falls under the same price range. But if the APV and the JIMNY are manufactured in INDIA then MARUTI might be able to price them competetively for INDIA. BUT will MARUTI manufacture the JIMNY and APV in INDIA..??? |

judging by the prices of suzuki cars in India I guess Liana would be around 7 lacs. Ditto for APV. APv should cost around 7lacs which is pretty decent in comparison to Innova, tavera and Scorpio Jimmy can be a high-end option to the Bolero invader and gypsy. I hope Maruti takes good measures soon. | |

| Comparing Pak to India is absurd. The number of vehicles Maruti and Suzuki sell here is nowhere comparable. It is a shame for them not to introduce Liana in india. Instead of concentrating on a non selling grand vitara they can do something with Liana. I am sure that even if imported as CBU Liana will outnumber grans vitara. | todays economictimes has an article about maruti gunning for jimny. Similarly, Maruti Suzuki which is facing constraints with its ageing 4-wheeler drive Gypsy and unloading its global bestseller Jimny in the price band of Rs 4.5-5.5 lakh. SUVs drive into C class with new models- Automobiles-Auto-News By Industry-News-The Economic Times This can get seriously exciting. |
