Default Re: Maruti to pay Rs. 3 lakhs for selling defective WagonR

Giving the man who has patiently waited for justice to come to him for 10 years , just 3 lakhs and calling it a handsome compensation is called justice in this country. Would the learned judge who passed this judgement put up with this if he or one of his family members were the victims?
Maruti must be thrilled with this verdict. Why is it that we do not have an Indian version of 'Ralph Nader' to take on the might of the auto industry?

In all developed economies human life has value, not in India (or any other underdeveloped or developing country for that matter).

Don't just start comparing two entirely different markets like India and US (Not just from an automotive viewpoint) and start bashing Indian manufacturers.

Even if we get all the safety features in a car the mortality rate from accidents is not going to come down any time soon. For that you require change in mindset and behavior (which by the way are most difficult to change).
