1.5 Ltr petrol engine is common for Toyota Yaris/Vios, Toyota/Daihatsu Avenza and Toyota Rush/Daihatsu Terios.

I would love to see it being sold in India in both petrol and diesel engines.

Toyota should being other smaller Daihatsu vehicles into India under Toyota badge. Daihatsu vehicles are ready made for Indian market and is mostly known for its range of smaller models.

Toyota should not waste time in developing vehicles specific for India which will not lead anywhere in terms of sales.

Daihatsu is the KEY for success in India for Toyota in catching up with Maruti/Hyundai/Honda etc.

This definitely looks much better than the earlier posted snaps. Toyota should definitely bring this to the Indian market.

MODS: Please make the correction in the title of the thread, its Daihatsu Terios instead of Daihatsu Rush.

Rather than the Rush, i would prefer if the RAV4 came to India. But then the RAV4 is a 5 seater. Hopefully the Rush will be made more appealing.

Fellow Tbhp member who are commenting about Rush/Terios in negative or in comparing it to Quanto or to RAV4, have these members actually seen or driven the Rush/Terios and RAV4?

The Terios/Rush rear looks worse than a Quanto?

They should bring the Rav4 instead of the Terios/Rush?

C'mon guys. Be reasonable. The Rush looks almost like a mini-Fortuner if properly accessorized and i would like to know how many ordinary Indian car buyers would say NO to sub 10 lac car that looks like a mini Fortuner with the same 'T' badge.

And the Rav4 FYI is a Cr-V competitor, and given the CR-V pricing and the existence of Fortuner in India i don't think they would bring it here, at least not under 20 lacs.

Along with the Vios, Toyota should bring the Rush to India with the 1.5 VVTi and the 1.4 d4d and price it on the ballpark of the Ecosport pricing. That is, if they are not already developing the next gen

T-Bhp has helped produced many arm chair automobile experts who are giving their views without even getting inside the vehicles, leave alone driving them.

Coming back to the topic, lets see as and when Toyota launched it in India.

I'd be very happy if Toyota gets in the Rush at sub 10L. However, knowing Toyota pricing and how they have increased the prices YoY, not likely that Rush will be very competitively priced for Indian market.

Knowing Toyota for years now and how they over-price, just for Indian market (look at their current products like Innova & Fortuner that they sell to Indian customers - which are way expensive in India, then what they sell the same in other countries). Toyota will increase the prices of both, Innova & Fortuner even more, in 2016 (quoting they have changed the entire platform, added new feature, better quality interiors etc.) and the will bring in the base model of Rush somewhere close to the base model of current Innova in terms of pricing (as base Innova price would have increased by then). That way if Indian customers want to purchase the Rush equivalent to a V model in Innova (with all bells & whistles) it will cross INR 15L.

Toyota is well known to do this as they know that Indians are crazy of the T batch and would pay the premium. They are very successfully doing this even today with all their products and still making good sales numbers.

Rightly said, that is, it will never happen price OTR. But they miserably failed in case of Etios (&liva), nonetheless they still managed to sell it to the taxi market and over time we realized that their research on the products is actually so spot on, that they had actually intended it for the taxi market, private owners were just a bonus for them. Not counting Etios cross, Prado, Camry, land cruiser as their in focus products, they are just not bothered if these sell or not. 2-3 of their good sellers (3 if you count Corolla) are for the taxi segment and only 1 product- Fortuner is for the individual owner. It's written on the wall clearly that Toyota is most keen on making cars only for the commercial segment. And Rush does not fit in this philosophy, and also the present model of Rush cannot take the 1.4 D4D, so it doesn't make sense for them, moreover it is due for change too. So the all new Rush (which I doubt will be a 5 seater, yet considering so) will be 1L more expensive than the Duster for sure. And if it turns out to be a 7 seater, which is most likely (it makes much more money for them), and highly unlikely it will ever be offered in 4X4 option, it will be at least 2L more than the Duster. Yet another people carrier from Toyota which they will like to call a life style SUV! So there goes our dream for a big toss.

Wondering why Toyota is not manufacturing trucks and buses as off now, they should have started long back going by their philosophy!

Hi - Any update from anyone on TOYOTA RUSH?

Today I was at showroom, where one of Sales Rep did mention that next year TOYOTA is launching 4 new models in India. She didn't mention which ones.

Toyota has been contemplating the Rush, SUV for a while and now it seems that the Japanese brand is considering entering this segment by 2017. The new Toyota Rush or the Daihatsu Terrios will the company’s spearhead SUV for the Indian car market.
Engines and power train are yet to be known for the Indian variant.

Long long away... Looking at the Toyota new design philosophy of making "no longer boring looking vehicles", I would expect a totally different looking Rush when it gets launched.

Toyota has been very lazy in India, just focusing on Cabs. To make any progress in india they need to totally revamp their product line. They are working towards it though

New Corolla, New Vios, New Innova, New Fortuner, New Rush . Basically they need everything to be new to win Indian market

Will Toyota ever bring in Rush (can be XUV500 killer), Avanza (MPV for taxi purpose) and Hilux to India?
