It seems we will have to confirm each and everything here from other members TD, till TATA updates its specifications on the website.

All the TATA showroom sales persons have got e-brochures and cd having detailed pictures. When I asked this Kolkata sales guy to forward me the pictures to my mail, he called up saying that the TATA guys did not give him permission to forward the e-brochure before launch.

He confirms however that the rear wheel assembly is new and has VGT and all the other points matchup, the dispute remains regarding FE. The TATA guys in meeting, he said, around 15 in city and 19 in highway. However the real figure we got is just 10.5 kpl.

What about the two small 'planks' at the back that they call 'jump seat'? Any improvement? Is the AC like the current one or is it like the Innova? Do not forget the wheel cover? ANYONE

Whoaah.. Look what Autocar India has to say on this

Tata Motors is all set to launch its upgraded Safari on October 4. The changes includes a minor face-lift and the fitment of an all-new engine. As this spy picture shows, the changes are centred around the front grille and bumper, whilst the rest of the body remains unchanged. Its not clear if the interiors have been revamped but it is likely that new seat fabrics and improved plastics will be used to give the big SUV a more upmarket feel. The big improvement is expected to be the new 2.2 litre, twin-cam 16-valve diesel engine which develops around 140bhp.

This motor, which meets Euro IV emission standards, has already been launched in the export market and makes its India debut with the new Safari. Pricing should be slightly higher than the current version, but expect Tata to keep it very competitive to take on competition from the likes of Mahindra Scorpio and Ford Endeavour.

I with Dadu and Doc

a Big disappointment , looks like TATA is poured ICE Cold water on my dreams / expectations about 2.2. however, I am still waiting for a hands on exp on monday from Manipal Motors here.

keep you all posted my exp on 2.2, it may not be much though compared to what is already been told here

Ok guys.. Good news.

I saw the vehicle, I TD the vehicle & I took Pics of the Beauty.

The confirmed date of launch is 4th Oct in Bangalore.

The one line for the new beauty is " It does not live upto the TBHPians expectations".

Some of the changes:

1. New front Grill
2. Beige color interiors ( i say it is a paint job, it looks like they have painted beige on black )
3. There is no change in Interiors ( dissappoiting )
4. There is change in Suspensions ( a small change only )
5. Engine Noise is reduced by 50%
6. Body rattling has reduced ( atleast in the vehicle we were )
7. Dint see any change in the rear seats / baby seats.
8. Stepney cover is changed
9. Pick up is ultimate
10. City drive made easy ( we were doing 30km/hr in third gear )
11. AC is better that earlier
12. Price bit high ( am ready to pay if it is for engine / will not pay if it is for beige interiors, its still a poor quality interiors)

If forgotten something will update the same.

Mods i am not able to post pics, please help me.

Regards Deepak

Is the pick up better than the CRDe Scorpio. With 140 bhp I hope it surely is, but I would like if present scorpio owners TD it and comment on the refinement of the engine.
