I am planning to buy the DICOR 3L Vx 4x4 and I am very much concerned about my new vehicle losing its value, just because price repositioning of 3L dicor once 2.2L dicor is released in India.
Can we get an idea about the pricie position (in India) relative to 3L dicor of the new safari, once it is launched in Europe?

Currently this is the only worry that stops me from booking the vehicle.
Any suggestion from BHPians?

2.2L of both of them are being developed by AVL austria and I dont think there is gonna be a big difference in perfomance so i guess Tata neednt sweat about that part .

Won't the cost of 2.2 L Safari might cost more as the engine is made in Austria -- technolgy-transfer,licensing,importing engines costs to Tatas?

the engine is made in India, its just the cost of development which will be recovered.

That's is great news -- so Tata's have acquired all the needed tech. for this engine.

BTW, why can't they use Fiat's CRD engines . Any body knows reasons ?

Safari Dicor

Does anybody have any Idea about when this is releasing in India. I am planning to buy one by the month of April or May 2007.

I do not want to buy 3Ltr in urgency and repend later if 2.2 Ltr is too good.

Suggestion awaited.

Regards
Deepak

steeroid i would suggest that you wait for atleast 1.5-2 years after the SAfari2.2 LAunch. Sell you DICOR and go for the new 2.2. Its not sensible to become test drivers for any new tata vehicle(that too at such a price). According to me you have made the best choice with you DICOR. THough about the new modifications and the price cut, I agree with you perfectly. Why dont you try for some retrofits (if at all its possible).

Done it before (1st Dicor in the state) after hearing similar stories and have no regrets. Wont mind doing it again, but thats my personal preference.

Clearing 3.0L stocks? Weren't both the engine choices going to be available at the same time?

I talked to the Concorde folks in Madras last week and was told the 2.2L may be released in Mar/ Apr 07. I am not sure anyone has a clue as to the real launch date.

Come on TATA. Get on with the program already. I don't think the delay helps you any unless the 2.2L engine is not ready for the show.

Clearing stocks ? Funny.

Isn't the demand supposed to be much more than supply for Safari ? As they are supposed to make very limited numbers etc..
