Voted for the Ecosport.
I don't consider it anywhere close to an SUV but just a car with the perfect size for city driving, the perfect engine for long drives(1.5 D) and beautiful interiors at the perfect price point. The stylish looks are a bonus.
I did not even consider cars above 10 lacs as the segments below 10L atually make up for maximum car sales.

Voted for Ford Ecosport. It has great features, looks good, several variants and a good ground clearance at reasonable price.

Voted for Amazzzing Amaze. Space, frugal engines and a game changer in that segment and fresh life for Honda!

Ecosport for what it offers in that price range! It did Hyundai to mini-SUVs what Hyundai did to hatchbacks. Tons of features, decent FE, acceptable build quality and Ford took it to next level with those looks.

But if ability of a manufacturer to meet the delivery dates was a criteria, i would have skipped the Ecosport totally.

Amaze...it was indeed a true game changer. Going by Steve jobs - Quality than Quantity defines legends.

Hyundai Grand i10 has won the "India Car of the Year", ICOTY for 2014 beating the Ecosport and Amaze

Quote:
Hyundai's Grand i10 earned the country's highest automotive award where it competed with Honda Amaze and Ford Ecosport in the final round for the ICOTY.

Though Ecosport is the overwhelming choice on TBHP, the grand must have won due to its relevance to a larger market and that it was developed in India

Cheers

My only grouse is that IIRC, there is not much competition for the winner. I mean the winner is overwhelming in "Team-BHP Car of the Year", and Team-BHP rates it much much better than so-called experts. This to me conveys only one thing: Manufacturers are not "Innovative" enough to kindle our attention and split our thoughts between winner and the runner. IIRC, the previous two year winners were Duster and XUV500. To be very honest, these three cars should have been released within a span of a year so that we would be split for choices.

Hello All,

I voted for Ford EcoSport. Though I also like Honda Amaze but it's very basic styling & interiors is what I do not like.

When it comes to Ford EcoSport, I believe they have managed to give almost each & everything a car buyer looks for in a Car - be it safety features, stylist interiors, comfort & performance. Also given the Engine options, EcoSport is definitely a runaway success in India.

The only thing I do not like I EcoSport is rear seat not being comfortable for 3 adult passengers.

Thanks,

My predictions for the 2014 TBHP car of the year: Hyundai Grand i10 sedan.

Warning: I might quote this post a year later

Definitely the Ecosport as it has opened up a new segment in the industry. The interior features coupled with the mini-SUV like exterior is tailor-made for Indian road conditions.
I'm sure all prospective new-car buyers in the Rs. 7-10L price range will be comparing other cars - irrespective of segment - to the Ecosport for VFM.

Garnering over a whopping 50% of BHPian votes, the Ford EcoSport is the undisputed champion of 2013...and the Team-BHP Car of the Year. Well deserved, I say!

Ford is also the only manufacturer to win the Team-BHP COTY twice (Figo took the crown in 2010).

^^And its third year in a row that we have a SUV as the winner!
But unlike last year, this time we have the 3rd and 4th positioned cars gathering respectable no. of votes. Infact I am pretty impressed with Octavia’s third position.

Nice public choice. Congrats to Ford!

I voted for Amaze. Only if it had a better looking front and better interiors- esp. dashboard, it could have given a stronger competition to the Eco-sport.
