Tata Safari now starts at 6.99lacs. - Team-BHP

just saw an advertisement in the newspaper which read that the safari range starts at 6.99 lacs(Ex-showroom Delhi).The model mentioned at this price is the SAFARI DICOR LX 4x2.This model is directly pitted against the SCORPIO TCI DX which is priced at 7.75lacs.It is to be seen whether this action will put pressure on the scorpio sales.Apparently the safari TCIC(turbocharged) is still on sale and costs 6.40lacs.IS TATA clearing their stocks already??

CAn this price reduction be taken as a hint that the new 2.2ltr engine from TATA is on the anvil and ready to be plonked into the safari or is it merely a fight for sales against the more diver friendly scorpio.

Even scorpio is developing an all aluminium 2.2 litre Direct injection turbocharged with intercooler ....in technical conjunction with AVL , Austria.

I think I read the starting price as 6.49Lac for the Safari

It is a lot of metal yes but are you looking for something which is just huge, imposing, has terrible dynamics or something which is good, comfortable and decent to drive.

And don't forget with the TCIC engine its not only underpowered but is crude too especially compared to something like the Aveo/Fiesta/NHC etc. And if you have driven one in town you will realise how much of a pain it actually is.

seems like everybody missed the second part of my query.why has tata reduced the prices so drastically?

Tata has launched new colours on the Safari just now.....
The bright red looks AWESOME .....

IMO, this wouldnt be a necessity .. how difficult would it be to add an air scoop?

Still, trying to pit a TCIC against a Common Rail ? Seems more like Tata is trying to push the Safari with discounts than as a direct competition.
