The XUV is now the most VFM car in India. If the Innova is going to be released here sooner or later, I'm pretty sure that it will overlap with the Fortuner's pricing due to Toyota's stupid pricing strategy. That be said, people will still flock to the nearest Toyota showroom with their checkbooks to book the car before it is ready for test drive because:
1. It's an Innova!
2. It's a Toyota.

People pay blindly for Toyota as they can be trusted blindly (almost). My 7 year old innova, is still running as it ran on the first day. I was reading Tanveer's thread on his XUV where in a 5 month old car was rattling (set right by an ECU Upgrade), seats did not fold, etc. The day Toyota starts delivering cars with such problem I am sure people will stop blindly buying them.

That said, I am keenly looking to test drive the auto box XuV to replace my innova - while I expect the Innova to be a lakh or so more than the XUV, they surely will not give the sun roof, etc. And I do hope that the XuV will be a niggle free one as well.

Good to hear one more Innova owner reassuring of the Toyota quality & engine performance. I have heard similar great feedback from every Innova owner that I have talked to so far.

So, if the new 2016 Innova AT were to come with sunroof and just let's say for this post, the price of the 2016 Innova were to be comparable to the XUV, would you consider another Innova? Or do you just want a "change" since you've driven a Toyota long enough and just want to try out another brand SUV.

I think the Auto Innova will have its effect on the XUV. There is sea of quality difference between them. Its a reality, not a mere perception. The MUV'ish look of the Innova was considered as a put off by many who considered SUV'ish looking XUV. But the lines are burring further, cross overs burr the sedan SUV etc. The categories are now more for product classification rather than end user perception. There will be a price gap between the W10 and say VX variant of the Auto Innova, but those with the budget bandwidth will surely end up with the Big T. That being said XUV with a capable Auto tranny will surely increase the product life of XUV.

I know the question's not for me, but i would. I am seriously considering the XUV AT, and the only reason that i am not buying it now is that i am waiting for the new Innova to be launched.

Assuming on-par or a slight premium pricing for the automatic Innova, i will go for that. Better engine, more space, hopefully a much better ride, and more than anything else, Toyota reliability. We will have to wait for test drives and detailed reviews to be sure, of course.

If the price were similar, lets say even with the RWD against the AWD of the XUV, and no sunroof, I will go ahead with the innova.

Default Re: Mahindra XUV500 with 6-Speed Automatic in 2015. EDIT : Now launched at Rs. 15.53 lakh

I am also planning to book the XUV500 W10 AWD AT sometime in December to replace our beloved Vento, which has done 83,000 wonderful kilometres with me in the 4 years we have had it.

The reasons for replacing the Vento are that I am sick and tired of manual shift in our anarchist traffic situation, and that I now feel like an upgrade.

I was originally looking very seriously at either the Jetta or the Octavia, but Mahindra has fortuitously released the auto XUV just in time to sync with my upgrade plans.

When we bought the Vento, I did not look at the XUV because of the lack of availability and because of the jeep-like nature of the manual gearbox (as reported by several owners).

Now that the Auto has come out, I am definitely jumping on the bandwagon.

After all, saving a few lakh rupees (over the Jetta/Octavia) cannot hurt, though I really like those two cars.

I'm just hoping that as with so many other things, living at the a**-end of the country does not interfere with availability.

AT is the only way ahead in this god darned god forsaken hell hole of a place whose roads appear to be populated exclusively by addle pated idiots and anarchist traffic.

You should come to Bangalore and see how it is - by far the worst traffic in the country.

The Sunroof will not sell an XUV over a more powerful, bigger, better looking (compared to current version), much better interior, more spacious, more reliable and more premium Innova.

The Innova will win hands down.

That said the XUV is no longer VFM. It was VFM when launched and has again started seeming VFM considering the overpriced Creta but that is not the right way of looking at it. Neither the Innova, nor the Creta nor the XUV are well priced today.

Then new Innova will even at 1L more than the XUV be more VFM (relatively) and will hit the XUV hard.

AT being available in all is the positive change though.

How about the SUV vs MUV debacle ?

Yes, a person looking for a vehicle in that price range, Innova appeals a lot.

But what if the person's first criteria is to look for an SUV ?
