Oh this is insane! I have a colleague with a TN70 Registered Ecosport who travels to Ecity everyday from Hosur as he stays there. I was always of the opinion that neighbors from bordering districts may not have to undergo this plight but your post is only making me think otherwise.

I think most of Bangalore's supercars are not KA registered. The only supercar that I have seen which is KA registered is the white Aventador Coupe. There may be a few more KA cars but I'm not sure of them. I wonder if the other supercar owners are going to face the brunt of this new action plan by Bangalore cops ?!

I don't think that is correct - especially speaking in biblical terms. That is Karnataka Govt. is suffering now, because of some of the sins/mistakes they made earlier. But if you really think, that is not the case. Karnataka Govt. is getting a benefit - i.e collecting their tax dues.

Exactly my friend. When states like Kerala were kicking out every possible corporate for flimsy reason, Karnataka welcomed them with open arms. I guess they were smart here. Corporate brought in more investments and more people to the city. The state's tax revenue increased. When people bought flats (most of them over priced) the state got more revenues. The state put in extra cess on Bangalore city's fuel prices. Only thing they left out was checking their dues for vehicle taxes. Even people who bought flats here, forgot that aspect - that they need to pay vehicle taxes. So now the RTO is working on to ensure that this issue is also sorted out.

In the way of Road taxes, in crores for 2 bedroom flats, salary levels become saturated, unsecured schools for kids etc etc. Way to go govt.
The govt. machinery is milking the IT boom to the maximum, no two doubts on it. But it is upto the migrant population to decide what next? Do they plan to become a sizeable vote bank and push the politicians? Or work on a plan to get back to their mother states and plan to live out there? Or just smile and bear all this.

Did your friend tell that he stays in Bangalore? He could have told that he stays in Hosur and commutes everyday from Hosur to E-City. There are a zillion people who that everyday.

For a hosur car, with Hosur adress on the RC and a TN emission & DL, they cannot prove that he is staying in DL. Moreover, he can retain the toll from his previous visit and easily prove that the has not stayed for a monthin bangalore.

This is what I have told my colleague. Carry all that he can to show that he commutes everyday. Moreover, I have rarely seen the RTO flagging down TN70 vehicles till now in EC where I work.

Now if the RTO says even Hosur cars need to pay up for entering the city (KA) Every day, its a real tough situation for those commuting from Hosur every day.

Not to forget those who are from Bangalore and commuting to Hosur on a daily basis (TVS, Ashok Leyland etc).

If a car is entering and leaving the state on the same day (pass-thru), they are not liable to pay taxes. With a Hosur RC book, toll receipt, fuel bill, address proof, one can proove that he does not stay in Bangalore. He is similar to the tourist from Salem who wants to visit Mysore or Coorg. This tourist is not required to pay the road tax as he is a temporary resident.

Hosur is TN 70, right?
Anyways if this is really a hosur registered car and your friend is staying there and commutes every day I think he should have enough proof to get out of this situation. Are they saying that its mandatory for hosur registered cars to pay the tax?

I had previously supported the RTO drive, Now with blackpearl's case and the above mentioned case, I feel these guys are taking this too far. Hope better sense prevails on them. They should show diligence in identifying genuine visitors and violators.

Can a petition to the Bangalore transport commissioner bring a solution to this kind of atrocity?

I was caught with my MP-04 registered Honda city in E-city by RTO folks right next to the HP office (I work for HP) a while back, a little before this RTO attack started. Had been outside of KA recently and had all the toll receipts with me, the only document showing that I had been here before being my PUC which was from Bangalore.

I was called upon by the officer and I showed him all my documents and toll receipts, proving that I had just come into the state. He saw the HP sticker and asked me that I work here so I have to pay up the taxes, upon which I told him that, I am here on a temporary deputation and as I have shown him the documents to prove that I just came in, there is no way that I need to pay any sort of tax. This got him a little agitated but I kept my calm as I knew that he couldn't do anything. After a small round of argument, he handed me my papers and as I was about to leave, he called me back and asked me for my PUC. When I showed him my PUC he gave me a "Dabur Laal Dantmanjan" smile and said that I was lying as the PUC is from Blore dated a month back!I looked at him and calmly told him that, Yes! I was in Blore a month back, went out for a month for work and came back to Blore again, is it crime to travel in and out of the city? If yes, can he give it to me in writing? He dint have anything to say, quietly handed me the papers and let me go.

The Idea here is, you need to be very confident of what you are saying and look the RTO in his eye. Do not sign any document that he prepares, without reading! A friend of mine was screwed as they wrote a document in Kannada which said that he had been in the state for more than 30 days!! Boy! I had a harrowing time running to the RTO to solve that matter.

Remember, whatever it is! If you have all the documents showing that you have not been staying in KA for a period exceeding 30 days, don't even bother, give him a proper response and shut him up.

Sorry, but NOT everything he does is wrong, isn't it? I am specifically talking about those genuine cases of @Blackpearl and another instance mentioned in the previous pages.

Well han can say that he "works from home" in Hosur and vists E-City office one or twice a month only for some meetings.

I am not sure If HCL would give a letter but if they could do so, it would be an added bonus.

I know this is ethically incorrect but maybe try this. Remove that HCL Sticker from the car and request a new HCL Sticker from the company and keep it dangling inside the car or put it in a CD puch and display on the windshield. Display the sticket only when about to enter the premises and remove the sticker when exiting the company. This way the RTO official cannot prove that you are living in bangalore.

In my previous organizations I have expressed my displeasure to permanenetly display the company logo on my car, as i dont want to be identified working for an IT concern as I am prone to be mugged/robbed.

- Your friend should have have told that sticker belongs to HCL Chennai. He is visting bangalore for one day only
