Default Chevrolet Cruze gets a minor facelift for 2014

General Motors India has given the Chevrolet Cruze sedan a mild facelift in India.

For 2014 turn indicators have been integrated in the ORVMs of the Cruze. Chevrolet also claims to have improved the fuel efficiency of the automatic variant of the car.

There are no more changes incorporated into the Cruze. It continues with the 2.0-litre, VCDi engine, which produces 166 PS @ 3800 rpm and 380 Nm of torque @ 2000 rpm. There are two gearbox options - 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. As earlier, the car is sold in three variants - LT, LTZ and LTZ AT.

Before this, Chevrolet updated the Cruze in October 2013. The car was given a new bumper with new fog lamp housings, grille, redesigned alloy wheels and 2 side airbags on the LTZ variants.

Prices (ex-showroom, Delhi):
LT - Rs. 13,70,416
LTZ - Rs. 15,19,029
LTZ AT - Rs. 16,19,826

Adding indicators on ORVM and ARAI mileage going up by 0.4kmpl for AT is called an update?

Why did they even bother to advertise the addition of indicators on ORVM.

I couldn't possibly agree more with you Vid6639. It is RIDICULOUS !!

The turn indicators on the ORVM could have got classified under "Mild Facelift" if atleast they had made an effort to remove the OEM indicator on the Side fender. This not only looks desperate but kinda looks like a cheap aftermarket gimmic.

That is Chevrolet's claim of a "minor facelift"? I hope they spend time constructively to better their products and falling sales.

On the other hand VW keeps adding kit to their cars and we hardly hear announcements from them. Like very recently, the Jetta got new headlamps, a new alloy wheel design, climate control and some more minor bits. I think they do not consider these cosmetic changes as a facelift (thankfully).

On another note, Cruze LT at 13.7L with imposing looks and a 166PS Diesel engine is not selling while Honda is having a field day with a 105hp City iDTec, top end touching north of 11L.

Speaks volumes of our market, and how GMs lazy attitude has cost them the marketshare.

That Cruze badly needs projector headlamps.

Chevrolet knows the Cruze is at the end of its life cycle and won't be selling much. So why burn midnight oil for a dying product. Smart thinking Chevrolet!

I believe that GM has been outright lazy in the recent times in terms of bringing in new products, or updating their existing lineup. The cruze is, even now, a potential good selling car for them save some upgrades they should have brought in long time ago. This update is an insult to discerning buyers!

Agree with you all.

Being a Cruze owner, I feel ashamed to read the additions made to the Cruze being termed as a "FaceLift"

They could have just added these "face lift features" silently and saved the money spent on this publicity and spent it in actually selling the car

This facelift appears more like a spot the difference game we used to play as a kid, Chevy got to take a look at new fluence to know how to do a proper facelift, literally.

The Cruze has a few nagging problems, one of which is that the diesel pipe repeatedly gives way and leaves you stranded especially when anyone goes on a long drive. This could be due to bad quality or bad design. Whatever the case, I hope Chevrolet India has taken steps to sought out this problem first and looks next!

Hopefully they have a replacement in their head because while it is not exactly a trailblazer in terms of sales , it does add 130 odd units each month to Chevrolet's tally which is significant given how much they sell , or rather dont sell

The facelift/upgrades if you can actually call that is Ridiculous.

Probably the cost of advertisements and marketing would actually be more than the actual cost of doing the so called upgrades.

This just speaks volumes of the attitude GM has shown against the Indian Junta.
Lazy and brainless to say the least

I have had a diesel Cruze for 3 years and driven for more than 80k. It has attracted no expenses other than engine oil change, brake pad and tyres. Not once it left me stranded anywhere with any issues. In my experience in the 3 years I had, this is cheaper to maintains, powerful and comfortable car for 4.

More touchups done to the Cruze to spruce it up and shown recently at an auto show in Malaysia. Mostly cosmetic but gets PEPS (push button start)

Cruze, in the Indian context is starting to look a litte dated compared to the Octy and could use this to move some metal. If I was a potential Cruze customer, I can't imagine paying good money for something thats not the latest and the greatest. (leave out the all new Cruze in China for now)

2016 Cruze appears without camouflage in US.

The debut of the new Chevrolet sedan is expected to Los Angeles Show in November, with sales scheduled to start the first months of 2016.
