Looks like wider tyres there, making it look so much better.

Good interiors for an entry level hatch.

Overdrive's Alto K10 review has been taken down (link) but here's the Google Cache'd version - New Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 first drive review.

Looking forward for the Team BHP review!

The car is scheduled for launch next month. News just out on TOI.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/b...w/44909772.cms

I found the claim from the MSIL person about sales taking a dip due to stoppage of production for new model's arrival very clumsy.

The review is back on and the Audi engine has disappeared, how disappointing.

The above OD review says the tyres are skinny at 155/55/R13 to get higher fuel efficiency.

Zigwheels also have their review up now.

ACI has its review up and working.

The interiors are not bad in the first place and the first Maruti where they seem to be a bit overdone. May be MSIL is testing waters with newer designs for interiors before implementing in other cars higher up the segment. I find the buttons to have designs that look similar to Fluence, which is nothing bad IMO.
All seem to be impressed with entertaining nature of the car. Another success story for MSIL it seems.

I guess he didn't want to tell the exact reason since that would bring down the sales even further. He is probably correct when he said Maruti is not so worried about the decline.

It could be multiple factors contributing to decline in sales:
- Company prioritizing K10 over the Celerio and Wagon R to ensure they have sufficient stock at launch - each and every dealership in the country would want a display car and a demo car at launch for a model like Alto - that is in itself a huge number which cannot be managed without trimming production of existing models.
- Potential customers waiting to see how K10 would compare against Wagon R and Celerio to ensure they take the VFM choice; especially with K10 being a possible alternative for the AMT buyers, with same engine and gearbox and a lower price.

Seems like the bonnet is elongated and the B-pillar is blackened compared to Alto800. So, it should look better compared to the Alto800 model.

But, it is a big mistake that Maruti committed to base this new K10 on the Alto800 body shell. Alto800 looks very boring nowadays. They should have continued using the old Alto's body shell (which looks far better than Alto800), and do this kind of positively surprising and drastic changes to the interior.

IMO, Maruti can have another model based on Alto with the G12 engine from Eeco, with a power output of around 80BHP. So, they could have 3 models of Alto:

AltoF8 (the current one),
AltoK10 (this new model)
AltoG12 (proposed

The new Alto k10 looks better than the Alto800 for sure, although the current k10 has a charm of its own. The most welcome exterior bits are the front fog lamps (or provision for them on lower variants), meatier rear bumper and the redone tail lamps.

Some bits could have been better executed though, like those chrome inserts at the front and rear. The front one looks especially odd, like an artificial stick-on moustache. The photoshop job by deetjohn is way better. The black side moulding would have looked better if it was thicker and placed lower, and 165/65R13 tyres would have been a safer choice considering the car's power-to-weight ratio.

The new interior is a revelation! The dashboard is so much better than the one on the Alto800, and miles ahead of the current k10. The Alto finally gets a decent looking double-DIN factory fitted stereo in place of the mere slot for a single-DIN system. It would have been even better if they had included Bluetooth calling functionality.

The only letdown is the lack of a very useful day-night mirror. I hope the IRVM can be replaced by a day-night one from some other Maruti Suzuki hatchback. Also, the power window switches should have been placed on the doors.

The inclusion of a driver's airbag on the VXi(O) is very welcome! The Alto800 already had it, and there is no reason why the more powerful k10 shouldn't. Hopefully, the Alto k10's most direct competitors, the Eon 1.0 Kappa and Go would soon get this very important safety feature.

The biggest inclusion of course, is the Magneti Marelli sourced AMT unit. This should make the k10 effortless to use in city traffic. Maruti Suzuki should not omit the driver airbag equipped variant for the AMT model.

It is very sad to note that the current exterior design of Alto K10, which was the same for Alto with 800 cc engine, would no longer be available. As some of the members have already noted and voiced here, I too find that current design of Alto 800 and upcoming new Alto K10 looks so awkward. I feel Maruti Suzuki engineers seem to have knack of spoiling a good exterior design, not capable of retaining and face-lifting to an aesthetic look and time and again they prove this, Wagon R, Alto 800 and now Alto K10.

I wanted to replace my existing 10 year old Alto (F8D 800 cc) with the Alto K10, next year Jan, since that model alone retains the same exterior design (and also provides similar interior cabin space) but looks like that is out of question.

The current exterior design of the Alto k10 had a distinct touch that was pretty good and did not deserve an upgrade soon. What required an upgrade was the bland interiors which was pretty basic as compared to the makes of Hyundai. The upcoming Alto k10 had revamped its interiors quite well but guess they have messed up the exteriors somewhat. Certainly does not relate or in a way compete with the design of its competitors. But then again all of this is my opinion completely.

The interiors really look upmarket now. The new dashboard and optional driver airbag is a welcome change. Very good job done by Maruti. Moreover now they have introduced drive by wire technology in the Alto K10 which wasn't there in the previous model. I feel we are looking at a substantial hike in the price of the new model (considering the segment), looking at the additional options available in the upgraded vehicle. If only the exteriors were equally good looking!

Tough days ahead for Eon, this beats the 1L Eon by a good measure.

I was just finalizing the eon as a runabout. Does it make sense to defer this for sometime? On the goodies front, there's no offer as such, apart from three years insurance.
I was looking at the base eon.

Motoroids too have release their review of the K10. The story can be read at http://www.motoroids.com/news/new-ma...tures-details/

Some things that immediately stand out
1) The k10's front has transformed from a smiling youth to an angry young man. On first look, its face resembles the red coloured bird in the Angry birds game.
2) Gap between the rear wheel and the rear bumper looks too awkward. Looks like someone pried out the bumper.
3)Somehow I quite don't like the interiors, especially the shape around the stereo, it looks too big for such a small cockpit.
4) I hope Maruti have not done the repeat of the original Alto and the K10 wherein IIRC they extended the bonnet in order to accommodate the bigger engine without taking care of the overall structure. It faced lot of wrath from all over for its compromised safety. Looking at post no 113 above, it looks like it is a repeat after all.
5) Hope they sorted out the capacity constraints of the AMT box.

Overall, not very impressed. It has lost its old charm.
