If the details on the pg38 is correct, Sigma and Sigma (O) don't have a ICE system in place

Maruti have smartly left out certain features from certain variants. It should definitely help them fix the price for the S-Cross in a very competitive range.

This Sigma (O) reminds me of the Corporate Edition City from Honda. All the safety features in place, but interiors left to buyer's choice. This IMO is a clear indication that the car can be priced at range we have been speculating for long now.

I am not speculating but this is what I was told to expect by Nexa sales guy.

10.5 ex showroom for 1.3 Alpha or 1.6 Zeta (give and take 50K).

Fair enough. If I were to buy(still not sure), 1.3 Zeta would do at 10 Lacs On Road.

Romeo, YRA and YBA were first shown in Geneva in Mar this year. Concepts shown were partly finished, with concealed interiors and lot of kutcha work (I was there). It is not baking a cake that they'll have the car production ready by Sep. Have some perspective, please.

With SCross they are rushing so as to not get left out of the entry-SUV party. So far with what they've got available and what little I know about the vehicle, they're doing a splendid job of it.

No manufacturer spends years working and spends hundreds of crores to make a dud. So the question of making a victim of the SCross does not arise.

Going but every person and every organisation is doing the best it can with the hand it is dealt with, including me and you. Let us give all the benefit of our empathy rather than our critical judgement.

Agree with what you say, but just a correction.
YBA was not shown in any Auto show yet, the closest was the New Vitara which is already launched in Europe this year.

Was wondering if this is correct..
The feature list on Pg 38 shows:
-"Door Armrest with fabric" on 1.6 Delta, Zeta AND 1.3 Sigma, Sigma(O), Delta, Zeta
-"Door Armrest in PVC" on 1.3 and 1.6 Alpha

Should it be the other way round ? The Alpha being top end variant does not get fabric inserts on the Door armrest ?

It has a leatherette finish (perforated) with good cushioning like you see in a couch, though I would have loved a larger area of cushioning. Probably the lower variants have only fabric inserts without cushioning.

Creta's pricing and S-Cross expected pricing makes me thinking that XUV 500 is value for money.

I feel S-Cross DDiS 200 will be priced at ~50-75k premium over the i20 Active making it sit slightly below Ciaz. I agree that S-Cross is better built and has some features extra compared to Ciaz and has the same engine in the same tune. But the fact is S-Cross is positioned as a Crossover and not as a SUV. For the majority who look at this car, it is a grown up hatchback with black cladding. But Ciaz is a sedan and has a better aspirational value. In India, traditionally hatchbacks / crossovers (like Cross Polo, Avventura, Etios Cross and i20 Active. I am not counting the crossovers which pose as pseudo SUVs like Ecosport, Duster and Creta) are priced below the nearest sedans and the suit might follow here as well.

S-Cross DDiS 320 will however be priced above Ciaz by a decent margin. Simply because they have to. If I understand correctly, 1.6 L + > 4m will call for higher duties compared to 1.3 L + > 4m. Also, 1.6 L is a more expensive engine + loyalties to Fiat + import duties. I expect the premium to be ~1.5-2 lakhs over Ciaz.

My estimates are as below. I know there is a wide gap between the DDiS 200 Alpha and DDiS 320 Delta. May be I am too optimistic with the pricing of the DDiS 200. But this is what I expect. I believe this could possible because Maruti is promoting the DDiS 200 much more than the DDiS 320, which IMO will be positioned as a niche product and as an alternative to Duster and Creta. DDiS 200 will take on the Ecosport and i20 Active IMO.

S-Cross DDiS 200
  • Sigma: 8.24 L
  • Sigma (O): 8.49 L
  • Delta: 8.99 L
  • Zeta: 9.49 L
  • Alpha: 9.79 L
S-Cross DDiS 320
  • Delta: 10.99 L
  • Zeta: 11.74 L
  • Alpha: 12.24 L

From the images of feature lists uploaded, what is the last feature just below "Front footwell illumination" ? The TBHP watermark is covering this one, hence the question.

================[/list]
Wouldn't that simply mean in that case, if Maruti does bring out the AT on the 320, the price would be very very close the Creta automatic. I would say, the 320 would be approximately 50-60k cheaper on each variant, giving them a bit of room to introduce the AT and 4WD variants later and still undercut competition.
