I can clearly remember that a while ago that the Audi RS5 was priced at 75-80 lakhs ex showroom.
CLA 45 amg should be priced way down right?
The RS5 was launched at 75-80 lakhs in 2011. However this was the base model spec car and all options such as sunroof, mmi high, etc added to the price hence a decently spec one was about 80-85. Since then duty has been rising and so has the price. Every year they increased the price by almost 10 lakhs. Currently the facelifted RS5 is for 1cr+ ex-showroom I believe.

A true enthusiasts would much rather buy a V8 NA engine like the RS5 for 10-15% more than get a 4cyl turbo car like the CLA.

If the price indeed is 90 lakhs ex-showroom then MBIL has got the pricing wayyy off this time.

C63's OTR here in Bangalore is in the ballpark of 1.23 crores , carwale is lil misinforming in this aspect is my opinion.

90 L ex-showroom for the CLA 45?? That would bring the on-road Mumbai to about 1.1cr. Jeez and we were cribbing about 60 on road Mumbai for the Evo X. No matter how better this car overall would be than the Evo, it certainly does not justify a 50L rupee premium on it, even with the Merc and AMG badge combined.
I agree with the rest, that just 10-15 percent more money or thereabouts gives you the C63, M3, RS5 etc., not to mention the S4 which is way cheaper and the S6 which is almost the same price as the CLA45 AMG, S4 generating nearly the same power and performance figures and the S6 which is much more powerful.

Mercedes certainly got this very wrong IMO

Very true brother. If i were to buy a sports sedan, it would be the S4. But this CLA45 AMG is just way too much overpriced. By the way, are parts easily available in India for CBU models from Audi and Mercedes for such cars?

It's more or less the same story as the CKD versions of the Germans, there are only some percentage of a cars parts in stock with every dealership, some with the manufacturers and most parts have to be imported and could take a good month or two to arrive here.

Shows what they think of buyers.

Car imported for 16Lakhs is being offered for 90L! ~40 or even 50L was understandable (given there are import duties, the brand building, operational costs, promotional expenses, dealer margins etcetera etcetera).

Quite unsettling.

Tell me about it bro! I had my mind set on buying this one as my next car and was expecting, a price tag of not more than 70-75 L ex-showroom under any circumstances. Off late the German trio have been pricing their cars ridiculously anyway, with the 520D's, A6 2.0 TDI's stretching above 60 L on road Mumbai . Made me crack up at first, but then was just plain disgusted by their apathy

These cars were hovering around 40 L on road earlier, surely all the import duty and cost input increase did not warrant a 35 - 50 percent price rise over the last 1 - 2 years?!

I don't see any official announcement for 90l ex showroom, so I don't understand where you guys are getting that figure from? What I've been told is it will be close to 90l on the road, which is still pretty ridiculous.

The S4 looks like the bargain compared to the CLA45 now.

While Mercedes prices their other cars well, the AMGs are another story altogether.

Very sad to see the state of affairs at MBIL. They continue to live in a world of their own.

Many MB lovers swore MB would bounce back to no.1 this year with the release of 6-7 new models. I continue to have my doubts. CLA 45 is worth 60-70 lacs at best. Considering that the M3 E92 was available for 75 in 2011 and is available at 1cr ex showroom today for a fully loaded version.

Why would any petrol head buy a 4 cylinder when he can get a V8/V6 in Many avtars (RS5, M3buy) for just a little higher price.

Sad day for petrol heads in india. Even sadder for MBIL.

Its clear MBIL has told the automotive reviewers / websites to highlight the fact " Cheapest AMG " & the fact that they are promoting this car as the "Cheapest AMG" many people will still for the trap & the CLA 45 will sell for sure.

IMO the sweet spot for pricing this car should have been 60L For the CBU variant & later (like they did with the W222) after CKD kits availability around 50L

Also by launching the halo AMG & adopting a top down approach & making this car not affordable for regular luxury car buyers, MERC has guaranteed their success when they launch the regular CLA variant & you never know it may be priced in between C & E Class.

I heard the same as well, which is what surprises me. You are right, it's too early to react until the official announcement, although 90 Ex or 90 On would just range to reactions from to
However they have messed up their pricing of the current C class as well, The Edition C costs almost 50 L on road which for a body kit and some silly additional features seems ridiculous on its own. Signs of things to come maybe, a ridiculously priced 2015 C class??

Again confirmed the possible pricing of the CLA45 AMG from my sources and they say it would be pushing the figure of a crore on road.. Let's wait and watch!

Brilliant pricing. I eat all my words and criticism about Mercs pricing strategies.. This one certainly deserves good numbers and I am sure it would get enthusiasts flocking to the Mercedes showroom.. Myself included!
Will keep everyone updated if I go ahead with the booking

Not that I intended to buy one, but it seems everyone jumped the gun before an official announcement was made:

Mercedes launches CLA 45 AMG for Rs 68.5 lakh
