With all due respect to the designers at TATA, the Sumo Grande / Movus design should have been stopped and questioned right at the drawing board. No matter how practical or good a product is, with a repulsive design, marketing cannot convert it into sales figures.

Examples are aplenty - Xylo, Quanto, Etios & Liva, Verna Transform, Maruti A Star, previous gen Hyundai Elantra and many many more..!

The new 3 litre DICOR engine is old news. It was on display at the 2012 Auto Expo along with its cousin, the 5 litre, 4 cylinder common rail unit.

The 3 litre model develops 138 HP. It is meant to power the Ultra range of LCVs/ICVs like 614, 714, 914, etc. Here are 2 pics I took at 2012 Auto Expo:

Thank you

So the ACI report actually means these engines (derivatives) are ready to be plonked in various UVs.
If thwse are put to use in few people movers with high seating capacity, like the Bolero Savari types, I believe could be a success in rural hinterland.

There surfaced news articles across auto sphere, so what's your take as a T-bhpian?

It is not very clear what the purpose this all-new 4 cylinder, inline, 3.0 liter engine will serve but most likely parameters are compliance to new stricter emission norms, weight reductions and provision for EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) mount etc.
