Question Ford Endevour with a New Engine

Hello Everyone,

I am looking into the options availble for buying a SUV in the 14-15 lac range. I have been hearing rumours that the Ford Endeavour is coming out with a New DuraTec 3 Litre Engine. Also, I was told by someone in a Mahindra Agency that a Brand New Scorpio with a full change of the present SUV i.e. Changing the Chassis to a bigger and bolder one. Also, there are plans to get in ABS, SRS airbags and the works. And a bigger and a Meaner Engine. The talks of getiing a 150 BHP+ engine for the Scorpio.

Does anyone here heard of this.

Is it worth waiting for the New Endeavour and the new Scorpio.

Regards,
Preet

Yes, Ford Endevour is coming out with 2.5 Ltr Crdi (May be TDCi is their jargon) with 143 PS outcome. It came out in the July AutoCar mag.

And i am not sure of Scorpio.

1.yes the endeavour is soon due to get a new TDCi engine and there will be more cosmetic changes to the suv with new front and rear and maybe better interiors, not sure about the rear leaf springs though.

2.hope mahindra does the changes you mentioned to scorpio, the suspension change unlike expected did not do a miracle to the vehicle.i personally dont like the new scorpio's looks that look too korean.

There are 2 Tdci engines offered in the Thai spec Ranger, a 2.5 and a 3.0. Hopefully we'll get both the options.

There was an ad in today's Times of India about the Endeavor - nothing was mentioned about a new engine though. Maybe they're clearing stocks with this new ad campaign leading up to the new version's launch.

I know that mitsubishi has the Outlander on the cards.

Its the highest selling SOft roader in Japan since the launch beating Honda CR-V, Nissan x-trail and Toyota's softroader by big margins.

But for a proper SUV in India for 15lacs Endeavour is the best bet.

IMO, these vehicles are a world apart and they target very different segments of the market. If you are looking for a good SUV in 15L price range, Fortuner would be the best bet. According to one of the car mag (forgot which one) Toyota is looking at late 2007 to introduce Fortuner.

I personally don't like Scorpio build quality and finish and would stay away from it.

I wish they'd take a leaf out of the book of Ford Thailand and launch a few more new SUV models....Thailand now has the Escape as well as the Territory (both petrol options though), sadly we have none!!

i think you should check with toyota dealers abt when fortuner is going to be launched (if they know). It is a brilliant suv (for the price it sells), with good offroad capabilities. I checked out the fortuner when i was abroad few months back.
Endevours current engine is too underpowered. So, it is not recommended.
I think if you want a good suv, u need to wait a little. or go for a softroader like cr-v.

If they give only one engine option lets hope it is the 3.0

Does this fortuner have anything to do with the "FourRunner" ??

the 4 runner was a 'true SUV' launched from the Toyota stables !
