That's good to know, but highly doubt if we can get that in India. I'd be more than happy if we can get the touch-screen console that's currently being provided on the Linea limited edition

Is this the system that got hacked recently in the Jeep Cherokee? Why, yes, it is. No thank you, give me an old dumb system any day.

a silly question!

I came across a thread where cruise control module was sourced from the international Polo GT/i and install on the GT TSI. And the component was compatible after s/w upgrade. Now on the same lines, will it work with the Linea / Punto ? Since they use the same Engine-GB combo, isnt the ECU s/w the only missing link in getting the cruise control ? or am I missing something ?

I have successfully installed cruise control on a 2010 Linea T-Jet and a 2012 Linea FIRE. Attempted on a Linea MJD without success. Let me know if you need more details.

I have the 75MJD, was wondering if it was a direct fit ? any reason why it didn't work in the MJD Linea ?

That was really helpful and to re initiate the discussion on this topic : I came back from a 3k drive down south to my hometown. I'll try and explain what my concern is.
The outside temperature was at 33C. The car was parked in shade. So after pulling out, I lowered the windows, switched on the blower. I usually do not switch on the compressor until the engine has reached it's optimum temperature.
As always I toggle the Auto switch, turn down the temp to 21C, roll up the windows and increase the blower speed.
In a jiffy the cabin becomes cool. The problem is I just don't feel that the whole cabin is cool. There's just that unsatisfactory feel. Another thing is as soon as I switch off the ac the cabin immediately feels warm. It's not as if the cool air suddenly vanished. It's a 2014 Punto Evo 1.3 MJD.

Interestingly the next day, I get to drive the Dzire. It was set to similar settings; it's a manual ac btw. But after some time I literally feel that the cabin is a lot cooler than the punto. Moreover when I got out of the car after a while, my spectacle glasses caught moisture which wasn't the case earlier
Any ideas/advice?

You did fine with everything in the Punto. Only, next time, after pressing 'Auto', try to keep your initial temp settings to the lowest for starters. It should show "Low" or "Cold" or "Coldest" or something in those terms. This should automatically turn up your Fan speed to highest too. Check that you circulation mode is set to 'Re-circulation'. Now wait on until you start feeling cold enough so that you want to turn up the temp dial. You can now adjust to somewhere around 23-24 deg on the temp dial.

If you don't find the need to raise the temp after say, 10 minutes or so, your A/c needs some looking into by a technician. Or you have a high metabolism rate or high blood pressure or some other health problem which I hope not. Best of luck.

I dont understand what Fiat is trying to do. Why would i buy a base variant with add ons for 7.1L ex showroom when i am getting a punto evo emotion diesel for less than 7.5L on road with all the extra features and most importantly ABS and Dual airbags

Thank you for sharing the news RavenAvi

One of my friend is on the lookout for Punto Evo and ironically, Red is her favourite shade.

Though this iteration seems to be totally 'Not my Taste', I think FIAT India finally seem to be going the right way. They are now understanding what the mass WANT and not NEED !!

P.S - So FIAT now offers a Touchscreen Navigation System on its lowest variant and skimps the same on its Premium counterpart (Abarth EVO)

What use is the huge end gadgetry if the variant does not come with the basic safety equipment such as ABS? In order to reach to the market Fiat has joined the bandwagon of manufacturers who add a few stickers and a couple of accessories of the top end variant and voila you have a Limited edition. This can works for the Maruti's, Hyundai's and Ford's. Highly doubtful that it will find takers (Although I fervently wish for the sales charts to go north).

Highly doubtful. Fiat brand needs a push. People need to come to the showroom to check their cars.

Importantly launch cars that can get people tl the showroom. Cars like Punto Abarth. Which will atleast get people talking.

Once you have people noticing your cars, then they might start seeing merits of the brand. Today how many out on the street even consider a Punto or a Linea.

People generally have a view that Fiat cars are well built and are percieved to be safe. Fiat should build up on that. Instead of these stickered editions, they should probably equip all their variants with airbags and ABS ensure the cars are safe. Call NCAP to test india made Fiat cars and then Market and capitalise on the safety aspect.

Club it with performance. In Punto they should do away with the 1.4L petrol and get the Tjet in standard tune at affordable prices.

The Punto Evo Sportivo edition on display at the Autocar Performance Show 2015 at the MMRDA grounds, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.

Exterior looks great in the red-black contrasting style, complimented with tastefully done chrome.

Alloys look like they have been made in gunmetal finish.

The body-graphic stickers look cool, as does the whitened roof.

The interiors seem rich enough with the dual-tone beige-black theme and the huge touchscreen HU in the central console.

Should find a few takers, specially in it's diesel avatar.
