IMO, this minor cosmetic changes may help to boost the sales a bit for some time, but not for long. The current gen Verna is not at all a looker, while their Elantra, Honda City and Suzuki Ciaz have the visual appeal which works like a charm.

^^ I completely agree with you romeomidhun.

Hyundai Verna looked Fresh and Gorgeous when it was launched, but either its the sheer number on the road or just the thing about the quirky design, it has becoming boring.

I somehow feel that this "Facelift" will not change this feeling in a hurry !!

To be honest, I don't even feel like giving a second look at a Fluidic Verna, which I used to stare at non-stop initially.

However.., there is one Car which makes my Gape every time I see one on the road, Fluidic Elantra.

Personally, The Best Looking Car in the 50L bracket!!

Even I feel the same way! except for Elantra all other cars from them aged too quickly! I guess over-designed cars tend to look dated quickly, first gen Linea would turn more heads than the new Verna IMO.

The Verna facelift will need some extraordinary features to take the fight to the city and ciaz IMHO. The facelift isn't stunning and the car has been around a while. Hyundai will be banking on the next generation Verna/accent due in 2016 to become the sales leader

The fluidic lineup is sorely missing a sunroof, is it the curvy roof that prevents one from ever being considered or just cost cutting?

Any case, this facelift simply shows the second hand design cues that Hyundai dishes out, as it resembles a Corolla / Camry from the front to an exceedingly outrageous degree. I am not a fanboy of any car maker, but simply dislike any company that doesnt innovate, rather just waits for "inspirations" from other manufacturers.

Are the guys at Hyundai over confident or have they given up on this segment? I mean making mostly just cosmetic changes to the exteriors will not help Verna in any way in competing against the likes of the city and ciaz. When the fluidic verna was introduced, everyone including me used to drool over its looks but now the same verna has started to look too boring(no offence to the current owners). Verna needs more than just small cosmetic upgrades to stay in the race.
I believe first and foremost, the ride quality needs to improve, if hyundai can improve it in elite i20, they surely can do it in the verna too.

IMO Ride quality was acceptable in a Verna whereas handling/steering required corrections.

2015 Verna facelift - first review by IAB.

Quote:
The Verna facelift is dubbed ‘4S Fluidic Verna’ by the car maker, where the ‘4S’ stands for Style, Safety, Sophisticated interior and Speed.

Hyundai has mildly tweaked the suspension setup of the 4S Verna. The company claims that the ‘thud’ noise when the car enters a pothole is suitably reduced thanks to etching on the suspension components. Compared to the pre-facelift model, we’ll have to agree that there is a very minor improvement in the ride quality of the car. At city speeds especially, the Verna’s ride feels plush and superior to the new Honda City.

Perhaps a grouse with the Verna has always been its handling and road manners at high speeds. Sadly, the handling, especially high-speed manners leave a lot to be desired even in the 4S Verna. The car doesn’t feel very reassuring to drive through corners at high speeds, and there is plenty of play in the steering itself.

After taking it through city streets of Udaipur and on Rajasthan’s well-paved highways, it appears that the Verna is more comfortable in the former scenario. In the handling department, the Verna is easily outclassed by segment rivals.

GTO was correct.

They have stuck to 4 speed automatic transmission and not upgraded to Elantra Exclusive 6 speed automatic transmission.

On the safety aspect, all variants of the Verna face-lift will come fitted with ABS as standard.

Quoting from "Auto Car India" on the suspension of new Verna 2015

But what should be of more interest to potential buyers are the changes that have been made to the rear suspension. There are new coil springs (there to make the ride flatter), a low velocity valve on the dampers (there to smoothen rebound) and new bump stops (there to minimize the ‘thud’ on full compression that Verna's have been notorious for). These changes are there to build on the suspension tweaks the Verna got in mid-2013.

What is it like to drive?

Well, the updated Verna is a big improvement over the older version. The changes to the suspension have made all the difference. It feels more absorbent with that trademark tendency to bottom-out all but gone. As before, there’s a nice softness to the low-speed ride but unlike before, there’s a new found confidence in the way the Verna behaves at high speeds. There’s more of a connect between the steering and the front wheels, something that makes the new Verna a far nicer cruiser.

Compared to the earlier version, this one feels far more settled, has a flatter ride and overall stability is improved too. Still, it doesn't feel buttoned down to the road at high speeds with a fair bit of vertical movement on gentle undulations.

Unquote

So there is improvement but far from the feel of other cars in the segment

The review by Zigwheels and NDTV also on a similar vein. There seems to be glaring omission in features like rear ac vents, touchscreen ICE etc. which were expected in the face-lift.

The high speed riding dynamics seemed to have improved, but nowhere comparable to other competitors in the segment.

Zigwheells review had mentioned that this is final face lift to Verna and new car will be introduced later next year. Perhaps Hyundai was not interested in spending more effort to this upgrade. I don't think this upgrade will translate in to higher sales number for Hyundai against formidable City and Ciaz.

I think they skipped the DRLs too. Also per the early reviews, the rear has faux-LEDs only. For me the biggest disappointment was not offering the 6-speed AT. That killed any consideration I would have given to Verna.

The most glaring omission I guess is the removal of rear disc brakes. Saw on the auto car video review that all variants now have drum brakes which slightly affects the braking performance.

From the point of few of a few potential buyers, this seems to be a wasted opportunity where they really could've changed the way the vehicle drives in the facelift.. this was the best time for clearing the opinion that Hyundais in general are soft suspension city comfortable cars and less suitable for sudden twists and turns.

Either that or its about time everyone accept that this is the path that the company wants to take, its absolutely not because they don't know how.. proof of that was the 1st gen Verna which was much much better to drive. It seems to be a conscious decision to do so and only those who want such driving characteristics should go for it. Its very fine for highway driving, just as a steady wafter so enthusiasts should not chuck the steering all over the place.

Verna is for reliability, ease of maintenance and good styling with best in class interiors. The engines are brilliant as well. The rest seems to be a conscious decision (good or bad). I'm sure Hyundai has no shortage of specialists in technical aspects.
