Default Toyota plans rural push to rev up sales of compact cars

Toyota plans rural push to rev up sales of compact cars

http://articles.economictimes.indiat...-rural-markets

Quote:
"We have chosen our compact model Liva that is an ideal product with a right price and packaging for the Indian rural customers' looking for high-value preposition."
If this move turns out profitable, then we can forget Yaris coming to India anytime soon.

Another, possibly related long article about Toyota India:

http://www.livemint.com/Companies/dV...-in-India.html

Quote:
From localization to cost control measures to small hybrid cars, Toyota is pulling out all stops in its recovery bid
The article goes on to explain the sales charts, changes in Toyota, their plans etc. A bit like our "[Car Manufacturer] The way forward" article series.

So, the mighty Toyota finally making a honest attempt to prove that their cars are Premium and full of quality in rural India.

Seems like, they haven't learned (or they aren't willing to learn) anything from their past Launches where their products were badly abused because of the pathetic interiors.

Poor Toyota. Why don't you make better products with the amount you are planning to invest in marketing? Definitely this would fetch you more volumes than relying on advertising. I hardly remember any marketing being made for Swift/Dzire/Duster. [Excluding the months of December and march]. And last but not the least, Get rid of that Speedometer console from the middle of the dashboard. I will buy one when you fix it.
