Not really. This car is competing with Ecosport that has 6 airbags. Safety is top notch there for 10L price. Brezza is speculated in the same price range. MSIL is huge and they have a good opportunity to come up with all the safety features (even if optional). They still won't go that route. I agree that safety hasn't been their concern until recently, but this does not mean that they shouldn't think about it. Having said that, maybe they do have a plan for this in 2018 when Indian NCAP becomes mandatory for existing cars (Oct 2017 for new). They might release it as a facelift version.

I'm hoping that car manufacturers get serious about safety. That is wishful thinking. Let's see what the future holds.

We'll know more tomorrow. Let's see what they've got.

Maruti is launching another Vitara with European specs right? Vitara S is what they will reportedly call it and sell through NEXA. That is what is going to compete with Creta. This is the smaller sibling called Brezza. That is the reason why this one is not going to the NEXA dealership. Expect prices and build quality to be on the lower side.

Why has Maruti skipped on petrol variant in Indian market? Is it down to low average, or they want to protect Baleno/Swift Dzire petrol.
I feel it could be the weight factor, which will eventually turn in to low figures for 1.2 petrol.

Maruti is playing tricks with the Nexa brand.
Baleno which does not feel as premium as i20 is being sold under premium brand, while the Brezza is not sold under Nexa but most probably will be priced above Baleno.

Maruti might come up with a Petrol variant down the line as facelift - hope they bring in 1.4L mill.

IMO, since the S-Cross sold through NEXA doesn't do well, they needed a lifeline for the survival of the NEXAs. Hence released the Baleno which was originally slated for regular showroom and see how it has turned the tables for NEXA. Now that NEXA brand is safe, they might don't want to go the NEXA route again, since the already overcrowded showrooms may bring in negative publicity for Brezza - could see a lot of BHPians in the Baleno thread complained of underwhelming experience in NEXA and some even said that regular Maruti showrooms were a lot better.

Pune folks- Inquired at 2 dealerships in PCMC. They had no clue when the car will be available. I poured all my TBHP forum knowledge on the customer associate who finally decided to give some of his own gyaan. One of them told me that they expect the first batch to be in by end of this month. I was also surprised when told there will be 2 engine options.
More then the Breeza I guess I am waiting to know what impact will it have on the SCross. Will it trigger another round of discounts?

Little wider than ecosport and nice presence. Couldn't they have sold something slightly bigger at S cross prices?

Have got their swift inspired styling very well (Mini inspired) Almost similar what Range Rover is doing with their design styles.

That is one awesome product. Lets see how they price it next. The colour combinations, instrument cluster colours are all a first for a Maruti Kudos!
