Suzuki Announces the Financial Results for FY2015
(April 2015 to March 2016)
- Increased sales and income for this fiscal year.
- The Company prospects decrease in sales and income results for the next fiscal year owing to the appreciation of the yen!

The consolidated net sales of this fiscal year (April 2015 to March 2016) increased by ¥165.2 billion (5.5%) to ¥3,180.7 billion compared to the previous fiscal year. The Japanese domestic net sales decreased by ¥46.7 billion (4.3%) to ¥1,047.9 billion year-on-year owing to the impact of the hike in the light motor vehicle tax and decrease in the OEM sales. The overseas net sales increased by ¥211.9 billion (11.0%) to ¥2,132.8 billion year-on-year mainly owing to the increase in the automobile sales in India.

Good job, but I think Suzuki should think about making India their global manufacturing location if it isn't already. They'll have local volumes to fall back on as a cushion against global fluctuations, and vice-versa.

They should also think about similar quality standards for cars produced for India as for abroad. I'm not sure how much they earn by putting in poorer quality plastics and having structural differences for cars sold in India, but with around 50% of the overall market that's just being greedy.

Finally having diesels for India and Europe produced here should justify having their own diesel and petrol engine R & D and manufacturing facility in India. Why continue to pay royalty to Fiat?

Isn't Suzuki's 1.5 diesel engine development in similar lines?

Thanks to Maruti, half of Suzuki cars are made in India

Quote:
Suzuki Motors’ global sales have been on a decline for six consecutive months. The Japanese company’s production in April 2016 fell to 250,465 units, which is a decline by 98.6% as compared to production in April 2015.

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corp, has continued with their success story in India. The Indian car maker which has now increased its market share to 48.3%, produced 125,134 cars during April 2016. This means, Suzuki manufactured just 125,331 cars outside India.

Suzuki was the world’s 10th best-selling car maker during the first quarter of this year !

Quote:
Suzuki was the world’s 10th best-selling car maker during the first quarter of this year with more than 660,000 units sold. This company controls more than 40% of Indian car market (one of the 10 biggest markets in the world), and is Japan’s 4th largest car maker. It has also presence in some other South Asian markets, Australia and Europe, as the company left USA and Canada some years ago
Quote:
But as a Japanese company, it has a different way of understating the car industry. Suzuki uses another approach when it is about the segmentation and product planning.

This is more evident in Europe, where sometimes is difficult to understand to which segment its cars belong to. This is partially explained by the fact that some of its cars are conceived based on the Indian taste, which is sometimes different from the European. Therefore the cars that are created there may not perfectly fit into the European segments.

All pertinent points VeluM! In fact I'm sure the matter has not escaped either the bean-counters or Sr. Management at Suzuki. Why they haven't shifted their engine R&D here (there is no clarity yet about where their new 1.5 L diesel is being developed, here or in Japan) is something only Suzuki can answer.

As Maruti Suzuki inches towards the 50% market share( Sept 2016 at 49.2%), Suzuki to intensify product development in India.

Quote:
We have big hope of expanding our market share further. The market will go and we will intensify our product development and network development (India)

We are looking at increasing the number of models developed out of India.India can take the lead on some of the projects. We are planning to train more Indian engineers who will work together with Japanese engineers.

We are looking at what niche segments we can create and grow.

We are working on pure electric and pure hybrid cars and India can play a role in the development of products.
