Good news for all you logan fans, it will be launched in 2nd week of Feb. The production of the cars have already started. They have already produced 200 cars, the plant is currently maing 5 cars a day this will be enhanced to around 30 cars a day. Source Indiacar.net

Mahindra-Renault, a 51:49 joint venture between the automobile group Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and French car-maker Renault, is planning to launch the mid-sized sedan car, `Logan` for the domestic market by the second week of February 2007, reports Business Standard.
Its Logan car plant at Nashik will start commercial operations in the first week of January 2007. Mahindra-Renault has set up its Logan car plant adjacent to M&M`s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Nashik. The total investment in the project is around Rs 6 billion.

It is believed that it has already started making 3 to 5 vehicles daily and almost 200 vehicles have been made so far. Initially, it will manufacture 90 vehicles daily and then increase the number of vehicles gradually. The company has set the target of manufacturing 50,000 units for the entry-level C segment car- `Logan` in the first year, which will share the stamping division and paint shop of M&M`s Scorpio plant.

Almost half of the parts of the Logan car will come from Europe, while it will source the rest (50%) from 35 vendors across India, including 10 vendors from Nashik. Lear Corporation, JBM Auto, Sharda Motors and Reliable Group are among the major vendors of Mahindra-Renault.

Currently, M&M is manufacturing Scorpio and Bolero utility vehicles at its Nashik facility with a manufacturing capacity of 330 units per day.
Shares of M&M were trading at Rs 872, up by Rs 1.50 or 0.17% at the BSE. Total volume of shares traded was 56,156..

I think I read this somewhere. Is it true that Logan failed the crash tests? I cant recall the source, but do remember this news. And when Mahindra came up with safety as the launch theme, for me, that was sufficient confirmation.

Logan scored 3 stars- not excellent but not dangerous like the Clio which got 5 stars. Basically, it is cheap and utilarian and a lot of expensive stuff like side airbags, deformable structures, curved surfaces were not designed in

This is the third variant of Logan, available in Romania & Bulgaria with a choice of two petrol engines – the 1.4 MPI 55kW, the 1.6 MPI 64kW and or the 1.5 dCi 50kW diesel engine. Although technocrat's pic proves that the indian logan is different from the european version...but the indian hatch maybe look like this (in a shortened version). Pics Below.
