I think Tata should not worry about numbers right now as they are selling a decent number of Zests and bolts but rather consider consolidating on the product quality and after sales service. After all Rome was not built in a day.

Since most know that A.S.S part is an issue for a few manufacturers, can they not highlight the improvements they have done by showcasing testimonials from a few customers in few major cities for a start instead of some dumb ad?

How about highlighting the dealer who is consistently doing well to satisfy the issues mentioned by the customer? Will be a shot in the arm for the dealer and also a wake up call for other dealers as well.

Hope they don't go the IIN way though

Dear Moderators,

I had a suggestion. Can we please include the sales figures for the Mahindra e2o in the monthly sales statistics ?

Being the only electric car sold in India, It would be very interesting to see its sales prospects and the future of electric / hybrid vehicles in India

Regards

No wonder Ashok Leyland doesn't share Stile numbers. It sells a paltry 31 units / month! What a disaster.

Its multi-seater Stile van saw sales of only 311 units in the April 2014-January 2015 period

That's quite a shocker!

I always assumed the Ashok Leyland Stile was selling more than its twin, the Nissan Evalia. That does not seem to be the case.

As bad a sales flop the Evalia is, Nissan still managed to sell a measly 352 units in the Apr '14 - Jan '15 period (thanks to Team-BHP's monthly sales charts), and actually outsell the Stile which managed to find only 311 customers in the same period.

This capable duo has been a bad nightmare for Nissan and its partner so far, despite their popularity across the globe. Things don't look rosy going forward either.

31 units a month, sends may be commercial vehicle purpose.

It COULD also be factory dispatches to yards where these 311 units are sitting waiting for customers.

If my thinking is correct, people aren't quite comfortable to be associated with "Ashok Leyland" as a brand in the passenger segment for personal use.

It is been stuck in the minds of people as a commercial vehicle manufacturer. Moreover the looks of the 'Stile' aren't stylish either.

The Stile is not seen any where except in Chennai, its home turf, where it makes a paltry presence as a people mover for companies and as yellow striped taxis.

From the BS article:
Quote:
One reason the Stile has not done well is distribution strategy. The company set up retail outlets for the Stile within its existing truck showrooms, most of which are outside city limits.
That alone would explain it. Plus what about service -- do they have to go to the truck service centres? Ashok Leyland can certainly make an impact in the personal/taxi segment if they try -- Tata did it 15 years ago, but it requires setting up the distribution and service units (Indica was launched together with Concorde Motors).
