Indeed. As you say, forum members here are supposed to be among the better informed, but I can't count myself there: It is nearly four years since I got rid of my Swift, and it still stings that I had no idea that, structurally, it was any different to a European Swift.
I really liked driving that car. I was disappointed enough to have had so much trouble with rusting (like 1950s in UK!) but then I was left feeling cheated from the start.
