There is no confusion, looks like you are confused!

That is an XE

I think they are talking about the car in the trailer, not about the post with two cars where the XF and XE is clearly visible.

Am sure, they will display the car. A lot needs to be done to get pricing right, including getting production on stream

Just spoke to cargo motors in ahmedabad (JLR dealer) and they are already taking bookings for petrol XE. XE will be launched before or during autoexpo. This will be CKD version. Diesel will be launched about 4-5 months after that. Expected prices are 45 lac ex showroom for petrol version.

P.S: If anyone interested, they are pushing out XF (diesel) to people inquiring for XE at about 50 lacs on road, which according to them is cheaper and better deal.

Jaguar will continue to be beatan by a far and large margin compared to the German trio. The car has serious rear space issues and has a catastrophic feeling at the back and does not feel very airy.

There is no real USP for the car in India - engine, features, service. Looks good but not sure how much can that hold especially when even the XJ looked promising, it never made it to the top and S retained the crown.

Probably true , in fact, even their sales and service facilities (at least in numbers) is behind as of now.

It's interesting that you brought this up. I think it's a little more subtle. Reading reviews and looking at photos, the thing that sums this up for me is "Curiously though, the rear bench is the nicest shaped and the most comfortable of the lot, while the Merc’s tapering rear side-window-line actually makes it feel claustrophobic" (about the Jaguar XE vs. the Mercedes). Similarly, the ride and handling on the XE (directly relates to comfort) is top of the class.

I have to agree with you here, but again, I'd say that it has more to do with the Jaguar brand than the XE (and the specs it comes with in India) itself. The brand does not have the same cachet as the big 3. That being said, Jaguar just have to be in it for the long term. And in the long term, India is a market no carmaker of consequence can completely ignore. Things can change pretty quickly ... e.g. if Jaguar gets the F-Pace to India on time (highly unlikely), that might work the magic.

True. The success will depend on their pricing strategy with CKD models. But you will agree that Jaguar as a brand gives you exclusivity and probably that will become a USP. Also you get new ingenium family of engines alongwith 8-speed ZF and a completely new experience.

Default Jaguar XE spotted testing in India

Jaguar's newest executive sedan - the XE, has been spotted testing in India. The car is scheduled to make its official Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, next month.

The car's face looks similar to its siblings - the XF and the XJ, yet has distinct design elements to give it its own unique identity. It is smaller in dimensions compared to its siblings measuring 4,672 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,416 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,835 mm. The XE boasts of an aluminium-intensive construction and is the first model developed from Jaguar Land Rover's new modular vehicle architecture. It also boasts of a kerb weight of 1,474 kg and a drag coefficient of 0.26.

It is expected to be powered by 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines from Jaguar's new Ingenium engine family. These engines are expected to be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

This car will rival the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series and the new Mercedes C-Class. It is likely to be assembled at JLR's facility in Chakan, near Pune.

Autocar reports that dealers are accepting bookings for the XE at Rs. 1 lakh and deliveries are likely to begin by Feb 20, 2016.

This time they'll introduce a base version, the snaps show halogen headlamps, no other premium manufacturer offers them today. The exclusivity factor will work for sometime, this car does have looks in its favour and luxury buyers are getting younger, so rear seat space might not be much of an issue.

Some reviews have pointed out some cheap bits which don't suit the brand and it's positioning, that could be an issue because perceived quality matters.

That seems to be a Prestige variant, the wheels seem to be 17 inch. If they are planning to ask 45L for this, then the car is certain to remain ultra exclusive. But if 45L is for the Portfolio edition, then that would be more compelling.

45 for petrol portfolio, as informed by dealership. Consider diesel atleast 1 lac higher. They will keep the prestige model closer to german trio, just to bring in the footsteps. But i am really surprised to see double barrel Halogen on a jaguar, i mean come on.

Sad to see the halogens being offered on lower variants, BMW also used to do this stupidity with the 3 series but later made xenons as a standard equipment. Cmon guys, even Baleno comes with a projector-xenon setup these days, why be so stingy with such small features.

Hope Jaguar prices it well, rear seat is an issue but as per the reviews, the XE rides and handles even better than the 3 series which has been the king in this department for so long, time to improves your after sales Jaguar India.

Jaguar has announced that it will launch the XE sedan in India on February 3, 2016. Bookings for the car are now being accepted at all authorized Jaguar retail outlets in the country.

The XE uses an aluminium-intensive monocoque structure. It follows the same design language as other Jaguar sedans.

The car is equipped with features such as softgrain Windsor leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, navigation, a 380W Meridian sound system and a surround camera system among others.

Driver aids such as torque vectoring by braking, which applies the brake to the inside wheel and directs engine torque to the wheel with the most grip on tight turns, and All Surface Progress Control (traction control) will be available as well.

The XE will be available in India in 2 petrol derivatives with output figures of 197 BHP and 237 BHP respectively.

Jaguar will pit the XE against the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Nice, and surprised to see it only available in Petrol.

Do we have any indicative pricing for the XE?
