Default Renault launches Lodgy Stepway at Rs. 11.99 lakh

Click here to read our review of the Renault Lodgy (Renault Lodgy : Official Review)

Renault has introduced the Stepway variant of the Lodgy in India. The vehicle is based on the RxZ trim level of the MPV and is available in two variants - 8-seater and 7-seater. While the former is priced at Rs. 11.99 lakh, the latter costs Rs. 12.29 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The Stepway sits at the top of the Lodgy range. It features some cosmetic enhancements, which give it a more rugged look compared to the other variants. These enhancements include a grille with chrome detailing, reworked bumpers with front and rear silver skid plates, cladding on the wheel arches and doors, silver roof rails, anthracite-finish alloy wheels, chrome scuff plates and Stepway decals on the front doors.

The interiors of the Stepway are unchanged. It gets all the equipment as the standard RxZ trim level. Features include a multi-function steering wheel, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB, Bluetooth and Aux-in connectivity, speed-sensitive volume control and navigation, 8-way adjustable driver's seat, second and third row air-conditioning, cruise control, ABS, EBD, airbags, rear parking sensors and a reversing camera.

The Stepway uses the same 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, K9K diesel engine that produces 108 BHP and 245 Nm of torque as the standard Lodgy. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Are the skid plates made of metal? Or are they of the faux plate plastic variety?

Unfortunately not. Still the same 185/65 R15 tyres that are too puny for all that metal on top.

As the Duster gets plastic skid-plates (mainly for show), it's surely the same with the Lodgy.

Does the Lodgy have any kind of waiting period? If so, Renault has killed two birds with one stone:

1. Make some extra money off those who are willing to pay a premium & get instant delivery of the Stepway variant. The difference is Rs. 50,000 (pretty much the asking premium some dealers illegally ask for prioritising delivery)!

2. I think the Stepway was intentionally delayed. That way, when the Lodgy was launched, even its most expensive variant was seen as being more value-for-money than the Innova ("below 12 lakhs"). Introducing a new top-end variant later is a smart way of controlling the initial 'sticker shock' and public opinion.

The Lodgy with 110 Bhp needs to have the tuning provided to the Duster AWD.
The current tuning is such that the torque is poor at low revs forcing the driver to down shift to first in heavy traffic same as in 2WD Duster 110. In Duster AWD, as well as in 85 BHP tune the torque is decent at low revs, and reduces need of down shifting too often.

May be it is just me, but this vehicle takes the meaning of looking under-tyred to a whole new level. Rugged look with chrome grill, plastic claddings and roof-rail? Really? Can we have something functional instead, please?

If I were to buy a Lodgy, I would go ahead and buy the RxZ trim and spend the money saved on upsizing the wheels and tyres.

Renault Lodgy ads seldom have a full photo of the rear or rear quarter. Are they embarrassed of their own design?

The Stepway does add some personality...but Lodgy from the side or rear is so hideous, that it'll take more than 50k to spice it up. What happened to the french sense of style?

Any suggestions for concealing that boxy derriere ?

Biggest change being the 16 inch alloys. Pricing looks good now. More so after innova is so far away.
EDIT: Profile of tyres remains same as it is 195/55 on R16.

Renault has launched the updated Lodgy Stepway in 5 variants at prices starting from Rs. 9.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company had first launched the Lodgy Stepway in June 2015. Hello guys
I am getting a Renault Lodgy Stepway RXZ 85 PS version car for an ex showroom price of 10,37,000 after the discount.
Is it worth the competition considering the year end discounts? And what's the feedback on the stepway version?
Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers

Something does not seem to add up. On Renault website the ex-showroom price for this variant is ₹1058781, so effectively you have a 21K discount, which is very low. Based on information posted on another thread, you should get massive discounts

Quote:
The 85PS variants have a discount ranging from Rs 85,000 to Rs 1.19 lakh.

I did a casual enquiry for Lodgy at Bangalore.
110 PS version has about 2 Lakh discount. If you are going for a purchase this month, you can even get a better deal. So effect price would be down from Rs 16 lakh to near about 14 Lakh or even less. This is for the stepway 110 ps version, top end.
For 85ps world edition, its in the range of Rs 11 Lakh.
