Default Honda Civic 1st Service

In contrast to the shocking costs posted by GTO my experience with the 1st service @1000KMS (though I completed 598KMS in 1 month) has been very pleasant indeed.
Called Whitefield Honda who promptly sent a driver the next morning on time, promised to return the car at 2.00PM and did....and the costs?
Car pick up....free
Car servicing...Rs.224.43 rounded to Rs.224.00
Consider this...Alto 1st service costs Rs.600+ and they I think charge for driver service.
I'm liking myself more for getting this car!

Jeeves, 1st service should be entirely free, since first oil change is only at 3months/5kkm 2nd service. They may have charged you for the pickup/drop. Why did you let driver drive your car, when not run in properly? I would not have done that...

GTO I was referring to your post on the Merc costs...should have been specific.

Oil change is usually only a part of any service. In case of civic (and also perhaps other cars), almost everything is interconnected and diagnosed through computer software. This checkup itself would be a major service work. Once the car has been through a month of use, it would be prudent to just 'check' on several parameters, even if nothing seems apparently wrong, to ensure anything that IS wrong is fixed and thus avoiding any future damage or issues.

Default Honda Civic 20K Km Service

I could not find another thread dealing with Civic service related details.

I wanted to know about the 20K Km servicing. I need an oil change and wheel alignment and balancing. Rest the car is doing good.

What else should I look for - air filter? etc.

@ 20,000, I'd be comfortable with the following:

Quote:
• Radiator flush & engine coolant change.
• Replace wiper blades.
• Replace fuel filter.
• Check and clean brakes.
• Check brake hoses and lines.
• Check spark plugs.
• Check engine idle settings (speed & CO).
• Check clutch release arm travel.
• Check suspension (include dampers, bushings, tie-rod ends etc.).
• Check steering gearbox & boots.
• Check driveshaft boots.
Taken from here (Maintain the car yourself. A service checklist)
