The posters are nice... But the video looks like an amateur work.
Also I got a call from kashyap fiat in okhla today saying that car launches on 20th and they have the car available for viewing and test drive right now! Had I not been caught up with my GLE launch would have surely gone today itself.

Fiat seems to be doing every thing right for Evo Abarth, only if they do not goof up with the pricing.

Agree pricing will be premium looking at what they are offering but they should not go over optimistic, else it may sit as a halo product along with Competizione.

Its a huge relief to see the red stickers around the fog lamps, bonnet and the roof removed. To me the chrome lining looks much better.

That video is from BIC and a preproduction car. The production version has these stickers.

Motorbeam in an article today says that both the punto and avventura Abarth will be priced between 9.5-10.5L On Road ( I assume Delhi, since all their otr's refelect Delhi prices).

Not sure if it is just speculation or they have some concrete info. Until now the best we have is <10L ex showroom

Quote:
The Abarth Punto and Avventura are powered by a 1.4-litre T-JET engine that produces about 144bhp of power and will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Both these vehicles will be priced between INR 9.5-10.5 lakhs (on-road) approximately.

Wow what a coincidence. I was in a bus which was going past the elements mall area and when I read these posts the next stop was the one to get down for elements mall ( nagawara). I immediately jumped out of the bus and went to check it out. Got a pamphlet with the feature list. Attached below along with a couple of snaps.

When prodded the marketing folks present said it will be between 9-11L OTR. Need to wait and see if it is true.

Looks really good and well be a head Turner on the road.

Guess what the anchor was announcing in the mike. "Awesome abarth punto with a mileage of 16.xxx. ". Really that's what you say for the abarth?

Another set of people looking at it." No touch screen or GPS?"

The black is a freakin drool maal!! Where is the horizontal red strip on the grill?? I personally liked it over the red fog lamp sticker. I'll keep the chrome brackets around the fog lamps - I think that helps to break the monotony.

There is a new found aggression & importance from Fiat on marketing this product. I'll suggest, go ahead & market this as the FASTEST hatchback (and mention the max price bracket too). A lot of people wouldn't know how fast is 8.8s to the ton! I loved the new videos that's come out too. All in all, a positive feel about Fiat.

Hope the gearshift also has been tweaked as I read in some previews. I personally will never think of owning this product if it carries the old notchy gearbox from Punto / Linea (Diesel). To me, a hot car includes the 'feel' of overall driving & just not about the handling prowess or straight line stability. One of the reasons why I still pick a Swift / GTX over the current Punto.

Hope the Abarth will change my opinion.

Edit: The guy announcing FE is doing the right thing if you ask me. That's an equally important point for a lot of the customers. And its good to know that this can return a decent FE still, with all those power underneath.

I know it's ridiculous. But can't help as I am starting to wonder after Maruti has started to broadcast TV commercials about Swift Glory edition. Is MS by any chance trying to position Swift Glory against Abarth Punto?
The reason I got this question is because I never saw any advertisement about any other special edition in recent times.

I am sure Maruti wouldn't. The glory edition is just a reaction to the new Figo. Abarth Punto will remain a niche product and doubt Maruti will ever bother to pitch something against it. They will worry only about some mass market products from the same segment.

Thanks to all once again for the display pics. I wanted to visit Elements mall and catch a glimpse of it, but the half an hour ride home in Sat evening traffic from Rajajinagara to my place tired me out. I didn't have energy to ride another 12km.

So from the brochure, it is finalized that matte grey isn't available. What a shame! They just gave other manufacturers an idea to use it on one of their upcoming vehicles.

Also, in the brochure, in the 'Some more features for a convenient drive' section, in the second point, they have mentioned 'Metal Black'. Such thing should be filtered out by QA in a premium launch like this. Even the regular Punto Evo's brochure mentions it correctly as 'Metal Back'. Let me stop my rant with the above two points.

Coming back to colors, in the regular Evo, I find the white to be very attractive; much more than the black. However, in the Abarth trim, I am not finding white to be that attractive. May be seeing it in flesh will change my opinion. The black looks super hot. The matte grey would have been at another level though.

Coming to the pricing, I'm expecting a minimum of 9L Ex-Showroom, 1.5L above 1.4 FIRE, which translates to ~10.8L OTR in Bengaluru. If FIAT manages to surprise us with a cheaper introductory pricing, it is going to be a killer deal. I have a deadline at office on Monday. I don't know how I'm gonna meet that
