Quite possibly, this might be the reason for high cost of the CVT. I hope MSIL will start local manufacture of this gearbox and hopefully can see other trims getting CVT after about six to twelve months. They are already doing this with the BoosterJet where they will only launch it in India when they actually start manufacturing it locally.

CVT in Delta, that is without Alloys. Maruti, always goofs up. Polo still a winner I guess.

Since it is lighter than Swift(< 90 kg), need to drive this to judge the performance.

Seems to have a decent amount of features for the segment. However extremely disappointing are:
Choice of 75 ps engine instead of 90 ps
No cruise control listed

I think that the above omissions are because Maruti has sabotaged the Baleno for the sake of the S-Cross and maintaining differentiation. Bad move.

It's not only about the power, the refinement and relaxed cruising capabilities that the VGT-equipped 90 ps engine brings are good to have on a car that they are positioning as premium. Also, while I personally couldn't care less about how many cars Maruti sells, the fact is that 75 ps on the brochure 'looks' a class below the 90 ps or 100 ps specs on the competition's brochure and the Honda/Hyundai/Ford/VW salespersons will no doubt be gleefully pointing it out.

Delta isn't looking that bad actually, what is the price we can probably expect for CVT. I guess if they price it around 8 lacs ex show room bangalore, it should bode well.

Sadly it feels to me like Maruti has prevented the Baleno from being a truly brilliant product. I thought their "premium" products would be saved from their silly variant strategies and uninspiring engine options. Lack of rear discs is also disappointing restricting things like UV resistant glass, adjustable steering and height adjustable seating to the top-end variants seems very un-premium to me. The car looks great IMO and truly premium in its appearance and stance. They could have done better. Hope I am proved wrong once the car is launched

Making height adjustable driver seat a variant option is a big screw up in my opinion. That too considering an AT customer has no choice but delta variant.

First of all, well done Maruti! Safety equipment right from base variant.
The features look well laid out across variants.

Couple of queries:
1. What is UV cut glass?
2. The car will look stupid without those projectors and DRL. Is it possible to get those for lower variants without voiding warranty and what changes would it need.

Kudos to MS for giving safety features from the base variant and loading the car up with features, thats the good part.
Now, why cant MS provide the 90ps tune on this car if its lighter than the swift it can easily do 0-100 in less than 10sec. It could easily have the best power to weight ratio and we all know MS is the master of gear ratio's. and let's not forget it is going to be fuel efficient as well.

Nice colour options though.

75 ps in the supposedly "premium" hatch to be sold from the premium Nexa! Absolutely shockingly stingy attitude, to say the least.
What's with car manufacturers these days? Even after charging a premium they don't want to deliver the goods. Well, the only thing premium about this hatch is the showroom selling it. Extremely disappointed by this cheapness by Maruti Suzuki.

Couldn't thank you enough buddy, this was just the post that I was waiting for on this thread.

Alas, my enthusiasm and excitement on this car has now completely waned. What exactly is "premium" about this car? Safety features, good build quality and quality plastics in the inside defines premium? Aren't these expectations of any car? Why would a customer walk into a Nexa showroom rather than a regular Maruti showroom to book this? IMHO, this car should be sold in the regular Maruti showrooms and the Ciaz should move to the Nexa ones.

CVT only on the Delta variant with that feature list is a complete no no. No alloys and no height adjustable driver seat on a car that might cost almost 10 lacs on road!! What are those MSIL honchos smoking

CVT on the Zeta would have been ideal. The additional features listed on the Alpha can be added as an after market accessory, especially the projectors, reverse camera and even the touch screen unit. I believe the Alpha variant will also have 6 airbags and also leather seats.

Decision makers at MSIL, I sincerely hope you are following this thread. If you have any inkling towards hearing out customers, then please have the CVT on the Zeta variant as well . Will certainly help in bringing in more sales. I for one had my cheque book ready to pre-book this Saturday, but now I might completely stay away from this car and look at Xcent or the Aspire instead. One customer lost, MSIL.

I really wish this 75 PS power figure for the diesel Baleno is not true. Why did Maruti not even give the 90 PS tune to this car? It looks good, has good interiors, feature list is good but then they have messed it up with the power output.

When its competitors like Jazz,Polo, Elite i20 all offer close to 100 bhp, 75 bhp is too less for a car which is being touted as a competitor to other premium hatches. This car should ride/handle well like other Suzuki cars but hope it has the go to match all its show. Hope the pricing is sensible or this would go the S Cross way.
