It would really help if data could be given in excel format as well. I am sure some members would be able to come up with some more interesting analyses.

Maruti is readying the Vitara Brezza with only one target in mind- the Ecosport. IMO we can predict on Ford only after the results of that onslaught are out.

Aspire and Figo will be average sellers. Good choice for us enthusiasts, but not a market favourite.

Sunny and Scala appearing in C1 with sub-4m vehicles? Is that categorization correct? Should it not be appearing with the likes of C2 sedans like City, Vento, Verna? Or is my understanding incorrect?

If this data comes from SIAM then there is some clause in the EULA that bars the person subscribed to SIAM publications from passing on the data "as is" to anyone else. But the user is free to to "quote" the data in reports in form of table/graph etc.

If the data come from another association then there might be a similar clause with that party as well.

The only reason I can think of for not giving an excel sheet it that its too easy for anyone to take that excel sheet and make a bossiness out of it. Yes you an still do it using the data and typing it out, still its too much work and not "free meal".

Well C1 is just not sub-4m sedans; take it as entry level sedans. You will see other models like the Etios, Manza etc. also in the same category.

Even I had this question.
Nissan Sunny for example, categorized as C1 sedan is a little bit bigger (lengthwise and height-wise) than the C2 sedan - Honda City. Both run similar 1.5L petrol engine, though at different state of tunes.
Sunny is priced in City's price bracket, and it is not anywhere near the Swift Dzire or Amaze.
Vento is a C2, though it is entry level sedan offering from VW.
Any specific criteria for the categorization?

Correct, but there is no point in beating the dead horse.

Just happened to observe that the entry of Jazz didn't really impact the sales of i20 nor the polo. If anything it is denting the sales from its own stable (City, brio, etc). So Honda is competing within.

Thumbs up Re: August 2015 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Position no 1 & 2 will never change.
Close battle between Mahindra & Honda and between TATA & Toyota. TUV 300 should aid Mahindra surpass Honda. Will have to wait and see
Its refreshing to see TATA clock up 10K units consistently.
Ford volume has doubled with the competent Aspire launch, With the New Figo launch, Ford might be able to take on TATA & Toyota with about 10K units monthly
Duster seems to have lost ground, clearly losing to Creta, 10 year old platform showing its age?
Lack of focus from Renaut, Nissan and Skoda. Datsun with only 2 products has outsold skoda and Nissan. Renault ahead by a small margin. Kwid might help things a bit for Renault
On top of 1 Bn investment Chevy needs a complete overhaul, over 2 decades and still no foothold in the market.
Polo keeps the cash register ringing for VW. VW needs another hatch along with a sub 4 meter sedan to bring in volumes
You need to love a car to own certain cars, FIAT cars are among them (Abarth Punto will certainly be) and those 642 souls loved FIAT

Chennai police itself had acquired 135 new Gypsys last month. But the numbers shown here is 124. Why such a mismatch? Did they come in a phased manner?
