Received on Facebook from a friend.

The official Honda India Twitter page has a couple of shots of the all-new DigiPad (7-inch touchscreen Audio, Video & Navigation system).

And, probably for the first time, the City gets a HDMI port in it's central console section. (to be offered in the V, VX & ZX variants)

I welcome this new decision wholeheartedly to favour AT. I just hope its not too expensive.

Just look at the amount of AT in the market and you will know most of the petrol honda's are AT.

My only grouse: i wouldnt have 5 trim levels. I wouldve just S, V (rebadged VX) and ZX.
Do you have data on what was the split between manual and auto sales on the Honda City or you quote from hearsay.

Don't go by ARAI mileage values. We know from experience that MT actually returns better mileage in real world conditions. Just go through the Honda City official Review thread. Lot of us like our manuals and will miss the top end. Finally the customer should have a choice of the trim/drive train that he/she wants.

It looks like a pretty compelling offering. The important thing to check is whether Honda has fixed the major negatives from the previous revisions namely, build quality, ground clearance, tyres etc. The only significant thing about the ZX version is 6 air bags, rest of the features are non-essential frills. The VX should be the choice for many though. Honda should have brought in the new blue color shade, the ones on offer dont offer anything new.

Will the facelifted verna and Ciaz be able to steal Honda's thunder?

Can Honda city regain its lead position? With most of them slated for a feacelift in the coming months it will all boil down to the pricing. This is how the New Honda city stack up with the current specification of its peers.

I really hope the price doesn't go up too much.

Honda could have done a few things better:
1. Offer a 6 speed MT in the petrol variant
2. Make 6 airbags standard on the VX variant too

While I can understand that Honda wants to make the top end petrol available in AT, I wouldn't be echoing the same thought (as you) if they offered 6 airbags on the VX.

Honda is expected to launch the 2017 City facelift in India on February 14, 2017. Ahead of its official launch, the updated car's brochure has been leaked, revealing its variant-wise feature distribution.
I think feature-wise Honda seems to have given it all
-Spare wheel with alloys
-Telescopic steering adjustment
-Auto headlamps and wipers
-CVT for top 3 variants
-LED headlamps, fog lamps and tail lamps
-7" AVN in top 3 variants
-Side & Curtain airbags

So far across all Honda models the 2 common feedback were
1. Give us more features
2. Give us a fully loaded top variant with auto transmission

Looks like Honda has finally heard everyone out and come up with a solid package. Price will be the key, but if they nail it, City 2017 will sell like hot cup cakes

I for one don't think there might be much reason to cheer for those of us looking at SV. Don't see a single thing different from the earlier which is non essential. How I wished Honda would offer the infotainment system from sv (currently looks like they are keeping the base audio system around only for the SV).

If they price the V well however, it will sell well!

I don't really know what the issue was with the Creta, but as far as I am concerned, it is very simple - the enhanced safety is not made available to manual petrol buyers and that is inexcusable. I would say the same on other cars where the automatic is not available in the higher variant.

The safety conscious sure will! Those who love to have (& can afford) the fully loaded shouldn't have been deprived of the privilege of 6 airbags. That's a huge miss. While the automatic is convenient, I believe the manual is a better one for the "driver" type customers with the feedback of the rubber band effect in the CVT variants.

This would have been a great addition. Sad Honda gave it a miss.

Thanks to a Team-BHP fan (who prefers to stay anonymous) for sharing these details .

Generally in the past, when dealers are billed cars for the initial lot before pricing is revealed, the prices announced are just slightly more or equal.

Honda's billing price to dealers is big hint for the pricing of the Facelifted City.

Below pricing in thousands

Old City to new City
Petrol
E MT 831.9 - discontinued
S MT 900 to 899.9
SV MT 953 to 959.9
V MT 999 to 1039.9
VX MT (non avn) 1114.5 - discontinued
VX (optional avn) MT 1136.5 - renamed as new VX MT 1179
SV CVT 1060 to discontinued
New V CVT 1159
VX CVT (non AVN) 1226 discontinued
New VX CVT (with AVN) 1289
New ZX CVT 1369

Diesel
E MT 955 -discontinued
S MT 1021 -discontinued
SV MT 1066 to 1079
V MT 1134 to 1169
VX MT (non AVN) 1235 -discontinued
VX (optional AVN) MT 1266 to new VX 1299
New ZX MT 1379

The amount is new things added, looks like just OK price. Should not have increased in any versions. Except V VX and ZX where slightly lower increase would have made City a hit

To put in perspective, for price of a Honda City ZX CVT, you can buy two cars instead:
1. Ford Figo 1.5L with much superior dual clutch autobox
2. Toyota Etios base petrol which is laden with all safety features like ISOFIX anchors, dual airbags, ABS and is proven to be safe by GlobalNCAP.

And whats the point ? I can give a similiar example for pretty much any car from this segment.

A person looking to buy a City would be cross-shopping with Verna/Vento/Ciaz/Creta and definitely not looking at budget offerings like Etios or Figo which have been duds in the market.

Though not mentioned, I checked the prices with existing models Delhi ex-showroom prices. They seem to match. Not sure if billing price to dealers is same as ex-showroom.

If these prices were to be true then I think V variant is a steal because features of 2017 City V variant more or less is comparable to 2016 City VX variant. And we will be getting all this at a lower price.

- We lose out on Sunroof and leather pack
- We get 17.7 cm AVN in both MT and CVT instead of 15.5 cm AVN which was offered in MT and 12.7 cm non touch screen unit which was offered in CVT
- We get on board navigation

Price of 2016 City VX variant (MT) - 11.46
Price of 2017 City V variant (MT) - 10.40

Price of 2016 City VX variant (CVT) - 12.26 (With 12.7 cm)
Price of 2017 City V variant (CVT) - 11.59 (With 17.5 cm AVN)

Following are the common features between 2016 VX variant and 2017 V variant
- 15" Alloy wheels
- Shark fin antenna
- Chrome outer door handles
- Chrome inner door handles
- Speakers + Tweeters
- Keyless trunk opening
- Push Start / Stop button

Today when I went to get my current City serviced at Ring Road Honda Moti Nagar, I saw the facelift City ZX in flesh and since the SA handling it is a good friend he let me take a TD.

Few observations -
Panel gaps are sill an eye sore, inconsistency was running all throughout the bonnet.

The new front looks good but I guess I've grown to like the current chrome mustache better, just a personal preference.

The new headlamps are lovely, the DRL however isn't one of the brightest.

Rear looks more sporty and catches eye. New Alloys look stunning.

Ride quality felt same as the ongoing model altho I only drove in for 5-10 mins. NVH levels are same as the current City petrol.

Other than the few more bells and whistles it's almost the same car, dashboard feels absolutely same, rattles could come along early.

Honda really should price it aggressively to sell in huge numbers, overall a decent facelift and I would chose it over any other in the segment without a doubt.
