Shoddy work by Autocar.
On top of that it doesn't have an LSD. It has the same XDS system that works using inner wheel braking that the Polo GT has. Shoddy work is an understatement .

The article seems to have now corrected the error. May be they have read your post.

No. It is still there.

Hot Handling

The grip on the Polo GTI is ceaseless, the fat 17-inch tyres don’t give up and there’s hardly any body roll. Equipped with a limited slip differential that’s hooked up to the stability control system, the Polo GTI is remarkably neutral.

Unless my link is opening the earlier "cache"

You are correct, the statement is still present but they never mentioned it as rear wheel. The mistake they made was in specs image. Please see image in below quote.

The Polo GTI scores not only the electronic limited-slip front diff from the Golf GTI, but also its torque-vectoring mode, where the front inside wheel can be braked a wee bit without interruption to the engine to help the Polo turn like a week-old burrito.

The above quote details on underpinnings.

VW labels this tech as XDS.

Offered to a select group of customers the Polo Gti starts off on a right note!

As part of its soft launch, the company has offered select customers pre-orders for the Volkswagen Polo GTI and has already received bookings of around 100 cars

The rich ones!

But, no big deal. Like most people, there are dozens of desirable cars I'll never be able to afford, and this is just one more.

Can we start a campaign/petition to VW to bring in the option of the 6 speed manual also?

Not sure if its been done before, so I'm not sure how to go about it, but I for one am a confirmed booking for a manual.
Not the automatic

+1. Why does VW want to push the DSG down our throats. Let the customer decide what he/she wants. At least give a choice. I for one am very disappointed with VW for not offering the manual here. I will give the DSG GTI a miss. Just not "hard core" enough for me.

VW is testing the market with this hot hatch. VW is speculated to bring the more affordable GTi's in the coming years( 2018?) in the Gen Next Polo.

Here are excerpts of the interview Michael Mayer, Director of Volkswagen passenger cars India on the Polo GTi and its future plans.

Quote:
MM: The Polo GTI will be an expensive car. It is a CBU with 192PS and there is nothing like that. But who says it’s not the first step in getting a locally made GTI, which has the credentials of the GTI, but of course comes with a more local package. And I think there is big room for that. It needs some preparation. We will come out with the price pretty soon because the car gets on the road in the next couple of months.

Am I being naive, or can 100 of us convince VW to bring the 6 speed manual NOW?

What would they need to do it and how can we achieve that?

EDIT:
This is probably the last manual transmission I will buy. Everything seems to be going dsg/auto in some way.

So I want to make an effort to do it. IF we don't get it, all VW have lost is sales...
