Each to his own, hopefully Maruti Suzuki gives the options for potential buyers like you.

I remembered the Ritz facelift interiors (red ones IIRC). These brown ones on the S-Cross are slightly simpler looking and not harming the eyes.

I can somehow accept the brown shade on the seats but the dashboard MUST be completely black.

Hope Maruti doesn't get this in the facelift. It can get that touchscreen unit though.

Update on the face lift:
-Nexa dealers now confirm facelift will be around Oct - 17
- Maruti has issued a circular on halting the 1.6l engine for the current configuration, orders for 1.3L are accepted with a 30 day waiting period.
- Nexa( Kalyani), Nexa(Pratham), Nexa(Mandovi) - Bangalore, has no stock of DDiS320's, and confirm the above statement.

- Dealers are not sure of the program of DDiS320, but speculate it will resume to be offered in the face-lift version( as Maruti has worded it 'temporary'.)

So now the waiting game begins and hopefully they still retain the 1.6. But as you said dealers are not quite clear on the engine options for the S cross.
Did check with my contacts and they confirmed that the circular reads as temporary freeze on the acceptance of bookings for 1.6.

Rest assured, the funky colours are not coming to S-Cross. It's a mostly exterior facelift with addition of ISG hopefully. My sources say the 1.6L is dead. It just didn't sell.

Hope your sources are wrong for this part of the news.

The only car that I have on list to replace my Swift with is the S-Cross in 1.6 avatar. If it is discontinued, I'll have to retain my Swift.

Wow what a shame if it's actually true. Was pinning my hopes that the facelift will be equipped with 1.6.
Acknowledge your forecasting skills and I hope you are wrong this time.

If this news is true, it may be a calculated attempt by Maruti to change the initial perception that Scross is a costly affair. They will launch the facelifted Scross 1.5 petrol and 1.3 diesel between 7 - 10L, and later launch the 1.6 at a higher price range.

Don't you think we would have seen many more test mules much earlier since the 1.5l (D) Suzuki engine is a new development?
It could be the other way round - retain the existing engines, the 1.5l(D) will debut in Ciaz (with extensive road tests) and phase in other models of Maruti Suzuki.

OT:- Any clue which model of Suzuki could this be? Is it the new gen Ertiga / next gen S Cross/Suzuki's sports car? link

Genuinely hoping that it isn't! Didn't book the current gen 1.6 in hopes of the facelift + 1.6 combination. Will be severely disappointed if this happens.

Fiat ain't producing the 1.6 here in India at all, so I think the rumours are true and the 1.6 is not going to be available on the facelift. Not a bad thing for Maruti since the 1.6 was always expensive and without localisation they could not have offered the right support to the customers.

Is the 2.0 compatible with the SCross? Is it being used anywhere else across the globe?

Since it is being made locally, should be as cheap to procure as the imported 1.6.

I was talking about the 1.5L Petrol, which was tested long back as per the news floating.

Yes, Maruti may be even waiting to replace the 1.6 DDiS with the 1.5L Diesel developed by Suzuki.

Maruti, please note that if this thread has gone to 40L+ hits in a very short period, it was all due to the enthusiasts talking here about the 1.6 engine. If it is discontinued or the 1.5L Diesel is not giving that performance, all the interest will be going down soon. Or, come with a Petrol Turbo (1L / 1.2L / 1.4L).

It is not long enough for an Ertiga. Window lines may be similar to that of SCross, but seems much wider than current SCross, and it was very recently they launched a thoroughly face-lifted SCross. The only other thing that is "Suzuki" about this is the blackened (?) A-pillar, IMO. But yes, Suzuki is better than many others at designing cars which looks entirely different than their current cars.

Much like a lot of BHPians, I was eagerly waiting to see the 1.6 paired with the facelift S Cross. The facelift would to an extent address one of the weak links of the present mode, i.e. the looks. If the 1.6 is indeed discontinued, it would be real tragic news for the enthusiast community in India.

Also further reinforces the notion that India is just not the right market to launch performance variants, and given a lower priced / better economy / smaller engine variant , the average Indian consumer would more often than not opt for it rather than the enthusiast's variant. In a way, this deals another blow to the possibility of the Swift Sport and other performance variants being released by Maruti in India.

If someone needs to buy 1.6 they should buy the current S-Cross and not wait for facelift . Post GST prices are very tempting for 1.6 S-Cros . If someone is willing to buy a 1.6 the facelift should not matter . Just for front grill in face-lift , not buying the current S Cross does not make any sense .
