ENJOY
"the 1.5 liter CRDi powerplant is thoroughly modern, with 16 valves and a turbo. It generates an enormous 241 Nm of torque at a mere 2000 rpm, a figure that’s usually seen in large-displacement gasoline V6 engines. For a vehicle that weighs in at less than 1200 kg, that is a lot of force. Simply put, you will not experience such a rush of pressed-to-your-seat acceleration in anything less than a BMW 530d. " thats interesting.

Aint the review a bit biased? Check teh last page.

Hmm.. Cant say JK.
I guess the ratings are relative to the category the car belongs too.

But if one looks beyond the ratings. The review does point out that the crdi engine is a real scorcher. Doesnt it?

110bhp @ 8lac, that too a diesel! Even if you take teh bhp thingy, it will rule. Or you need 10lac for a 110+bhp car. Hope they price it right.

I guess they will not price it much more than a fiesta diesel.
And boy.. if its priced around that only I'm sure its gonna eat up the market.

Just hoping that hyundai offers ABS and airbags(atleast as optionals)

LET THE GAMES BEGIN

I think the Verna is bigger in interior space as well as with teh engine side and hence if priced on par with Fiesta 1.4TDCi will be gr8. Also, a further price reduction by Ford for Fiesta would put it beside the old Accent!

After seeing the new Baleno images, I am really warming up to Verna. Who would have guessed...

If verna is priced at around 7 - 7.5 then fiesta will go fusion way straight away 50K discount. But if Verna fails just like (Getz, Elentra, Sonata Embra) then Verna will go Elentra way 1 lac plus discount

. Hyundai has messed up with some of the models earlier on pricing front. They can do it again as well. But if they manage to pitch it up to Fiesta, then Ford will have tough time. Let's hope for the best.

The dealers here dont have it on display.
Are extremely tightlipped about pricing but gave out that much that will definately be below 7.5L max.
This means 40-50000 more than the accent. At that price it is surely a winner.
Verna Crdi below 7.5L is a good price.

Default Hyundai Verna vis-a-vis the competition

The competition for the petrol Verna is the new Baleno, Ford Fiesta 1.6 and the Honda City (maybe also the solidly built Optra 1.6), considering Verna comes with the 130 odd bhp 1.6L Gamma engine (though it is likely to be slightly detuned to around 115-120 bhp for Indian conditions. http://www.overdrive.in/showstory.php?storyid=182
Price will decide whether the Verna will be a hit or manage ordinary sales figures like the petrol Fiesta or Baleno.

The Verna looks better as compared to the new Baleno (which seems to have a nasty gap between the bonnet and the front grill/headlights as per the pics in ACI – though the production model could be different). The new Baleno is expected to come with the same 1.5L plant of the older model – so performance-wise Verna will again upstage the new Baleno. Verna with good quality interiors and decent fuel-economy will make it compete with the Honda City. But in any case to be a hit, it has to be priced below the Honda City VTEC, keeping in mind Honda’s brand equity. It will be the price factor again vis--vis the Fiesta 1.6, though believe the main competition with the Fiesta will be in the diesel version which commands a majority of Fiesta sales.

The 1.5L diesel Verna will eat into diesel Fiesta’s market share if priced appropriately. Ford is charging a hefty premium on the Fiesta with the 1.4 Duratorq Diesel even after the recent price reduction. The 110 odd bhp diesel engine for the Verna looks smacking (CRDI with VGT – around 24 Kgm torque!!) and they can charge a premium for that because it is a performance leap vis--vis the 68 bhp common rail Fiesta Diesel. But Hyundai should take care so as not to out-price the vehicle. Hope Hyundai don’t repeat the pricing blunder of the Elantra.
