I may be going against the tidal wave of sentiments here, but I love this look/design.

I have always found the Swift to be very bulbous and curvy, kinda like the previous gen Nissan Micra. And it did not look like it was 'Swift'. Neither did it drive very 'Swiftly'.

So this new look is very welcome, and just an addition of the Boosterjet 1.0 engine will make the Swift, swift.

I might actually consider buying this if the car looks like shown in the render!

PS: can one hope that the upcoming car is structurally sound as well? Which the current-gen is not?

Global Swift will be EURO NCAP tested in the first half of 2017.

The Indian car is expected to meet the upcoming Indian crash test norms due in 2017. ( ex. like the Ignis )

Thank you volkman10 for sharing the details here

If this is what is coming to India, I think this is one of the lamest "Facelift" by any manufacturer.

With this launch, Maruti will completely KILL THE SWIFT in the market among the Gen X folks.

But of course, at the end of the day its a Maruti and will still sell in our India.

I don't think that this is a bad move, if Maruti manages it well. They should leave the family market to the Baleno and re-position the Swift as an out an out sporty hatch that it originally was.

Am I the only one to see a similarity with previous gen Figo?

Thank you volkman10

I have posted this so many times that this is just a 2017 Mix-lift of the Swift. It is so obvious that Maruti don't have many 'Creative Designers' left on the staff.

Nope, you got one more who things that aditya101.

In fact, I have some more of the following thoughts:

- Hyundai Launch the I-gen I20 with one of the segment first DRL's:

- Maruti take the easy way of copying the design but do a shabby job by not giving any DRLs:

- Hyundai design Elite I20, which is arguably one of the most gorgeous Hatchbacks in the country today:

- Suzuki just get a Huge Xerox machine and COPY the facia:

No Wonder Maruti have been ruling the Sales chart. They have never invested in Creative Designing

To be honest, I quite like how she looks. With the alloys which are seen in the pictures, it looks quite fantastic, mature and look at that spec sheet with the Auto's, Turbo Petrols and what not. In India, if this is launched with a 90 PS Diesel and a 6 speed Manual/Auto transmission, its a lethal combination for that engine.

Not a big fan of this evolutionary styling for the next-gen Swift. Would be interesting to see what Maruti does to the Dzire's front styling to differentiate it from the Swift. Those alloys look outdated already, especially after seeing the superb alloy wheel design on the Kite 5.

From the launch of the New Swift,

Quote:
The new Swift adopted a new platform HEARTECT (Hertekuto) which compatible with mild hybrids, weight reduction and high rigidity, in addition to improving the handling performance which successive Swift continued to refine while setting it as a boldly evolving dynamic movement style . A 1.2-liter natural intake dual jet engine pursuing low fuel consumption by improving thermal efficiency achieves excellent running performance and fuel economy performance at the same time. RSt adopted 1.0-liter direct injection turbo booster jet engine (corresponding to unleaded regular gasoline) and 6-speed AT, achieving both power performance that gives a strong acceleration feel and excellent fuel economy performance.
In addition, as the first equipment in Suzuki, we adopted dual sensor brake support (DSBS) for collision damage reduction system with monocular camera and laser radar. High beam assist function that automatically switches between high beam and low beam was also added according to the surrounding situation. Equipped with adaptive cruise control (ACC) etc. keeping the distance to the vehicle ahead ahead of the other, we realized significant evolution in all aspects such as improving safety equipment and functions to support driving.

1.2 liter hybrid (mild hybrid that the motor assists at acceleration)
For vehicles equipped with a 1.2-liter natural inspiration engine, we set up our own mild hybrid equipped vehicle combining ISG (electric generator with generator function) and exclusive lithium ion battery, achieving JC 08 mode fuel economy of 27.4 km / L in 2WD car .
In addition, ISG performs energy regeneration during deceleration and engine restart after idling stop, suppressing wasteful fuel consumption. Furthermore, the burden on the engine was alleviated by motor assist for a maximum of 30 seconds, and further improvement in fuel economy was realized.
1.2 liter NA (K12C type dual jet engine)
The K12C type dual jet engine of 1.2 liter natural inspiration which further improved thermal efficiency is installed. Increasing the compression ratio from 12.0 to 12.5 by combustion improvement technology to increase thermal efficiency and suppressing knocking by improving cooling performance and optimizing mixture.
In addition to improving the torque in the low revolution range, we achieved excellent fuel economy performance and powerful driving at a high level through reduction of friction, weight reduction and compactness of the engine.
1.0 liter turbo (K10C type booster jet engine)
RSt is equipped with a 1.0-liter direct injection turbo engine that combines fuel economy and power. Direct injection and supercharger (turbocharger) realize high output, high torque equivalent to 1.5 liter naturally aspirated engine while small displacement of 1.0 liter. From town ride to high speed running, it is easy to handle in a wide range of scenes and demonstrates excellent performance.
Transmission adopted 6 speed AT which can enjoy direct shift response.
Quote:
A new color of red (Burning Red Pearl Metallic) and Blue (Speedy Blue Metallic) as image color. All 9 colors (5 colors for RS type) are available in a lineup. Aim to sell 3000 units per month. Regarding overseas deployment, sales will start from next Spring

And people are calling the Kite5 sedan a bad looker.

Quite honestly, the only angle the new Swift looks semi-decent is from it's side profile. Front is extremely quirky and seems like a comprehensive photoshop of many other cars, and the rear is a throwback to the older-gen Swift.

Bet this will sell in truckloads. Lighter build, plastic fuel tank, possible SHVS/AMT variants with a huge ARAI-certified FE figure, and you got a bestseller again.

At Maruti, we can sell anything with the "Kitna deti hai?" slogan.
