Is this the weight of India-specific model?

Current-gen Swift is around 950kgs while the new gen Swift is based on the new Baleno platform. And Baleno's kerb weight is somewhere around 860 kgs. Hence, I don't think it is possible that the new Swift will weight 120-130 kgs more. Or am I missing something here?

Or this maybe the weight of Japan or Euro spec model which are better built in comparison to the India-spec model.

Not yet officially revealed but here is the SUZUKI SWIFT SPORT, hours before its unveil.link

Swift Sport is powered by the same 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol as the Vitara, uprated with an extra 10Nm of torque. Claimed outputs are 103KW and 230Nm, between 2500 and 3000rpm.

The MY18 FWD pocket rocket appears to come exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox. Performance times remain under wraps, though it weighs 1045kg wet according to info on the stand.

Design cues include sharp new alloys, a somewhat lairy body kit and a cool plastic rear bumper with integrated twin-pipes.

Highlights inside include a 7.0-inch touchscreen with navigation and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, badged bucket seats, red dials and cabin plastic trims, and metal pedals. There’s also a boost gauge built into the trip computer. link

Do you know what is the ground clearance for new Swift? I heard it will follow the same 163mm as new DZIRE. If that is the case then

Drool!! Man, it just gets my goat that Suzuki/ Maruti is simply not willing to bring this sweet machine to our shores. The one performance oriented machine that they managed to bring, the S Cross 1.6, just met a sad end due to the initial poor pricing strategy, which later discounts and price corrections could not salvage. And now the Swift Sport gets to be enjoyed by enthusiasts all over the world while we Indians have to make do with the anaemic petrol and diesel base level engines.

The time is ripe for performance hatchbacks to make an entry. Instead of concentrating on the volume segment with boring hatchbacks etc only, a halo product like this, if brought in by Maruti would be welcomed by the Indian enthusiast community all of whom may not have the greenbacks to throw at BMWs and the like. I for one would be one of the first to cut a cheque were the Swift Sport to land on our shores! The Swift Sport is just the perfect size having blazing power numbers to constitute a lip smacking hot hatch.

PS: the yellow with black rims is just drool maal!

Shouldn't be an issue. The new DZire seems more or less identical to the outgoing one in real life. Its mostly some individual flap / bolt somewhere that is bringing the number down on paper. Doesn't seem like it will be polishing speed breakers everywhere. A lower GC helps in good driving dynamics too. Something that we always wish from a Swift.

On the other hand...
Can Maruti just put this Boosterjet in the 1st Gen Swift (along with some more bells and whistles like safety kit, DRL etc) and bring that as a Swift Sport? Please I beg...Please...

At least in the sports variant, the face looks much better. Overall, this one is a hit or miss design. Moves away from Suzuki/Maruti's usual please all, hurt none.

Off the top of my head, 1.4 litre engine, turbocharger, plus possibly the U.K/EU kerb weight logic where the weight of the driver fixed at 75 kg will be added as standard weight. Without the driver you're looking at a possible 100-120 kilo difference due to the turbo-charger (20-30 kg) and bigger engine (60-70 kg). Possibly other minor changes like better bolstered seats, four more airbags which means more weight and 4 more actuators, more electronics etc. Should make the difference in excess of 150 kgs without driver weight.

Not sure if the next-gen Swift will weigh the same in India as it would in Europe, but that wasn't the case in the prev(current) gen car.. though it remains same in Baleno. I'd peg the India weight to be well below 900 (1.2 regular petrol engine), no way is it going to be heavier than the Baleno with the same super-light platform in play.

Suzuki SWIFT SPORT Officially unveiled,

The 2017 next-gen Suzuki Swift. EDIT: Revealed in Japan-a8b56d3b.jpg

Quote:
It’s lighter, sharper, quicker,” -Chief Engineer of the Suzuki Swift Sport. “It’s more aggressive and emotive, but we’ve also refined the elements that make it practical to use every day—the clutch feel, the manual transmission shift throw, the seats and steering wheel. Everything that puts the driver at the heart of the experience.
Quote:
The engine provides the Swift Sport with 138bhp and 230Nm of torque, and sends drive to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. The transmission is the same found in the last iteration of the firm’s hot hatch, but has been re-engineered to improve shift smoothness and feedback
Quote:
it’s significantly lighter than its rivals with a curb weight of 970kg, and 80kg lighter than the previous Swift Sport. Performance figures remain under wraps for now though. A new suspension setup sits underneath, and the car rides 15mm lower than before too.
Quote:
The front suspension utilizes Monroe dampers, along with thicker anti-roll bars while the wheel hub and wheel bearings are now combined into a single unit for better rigidity. The rear suspension’s trailing arm has been exclusively designed for the Swift Sport while the toe rigidity has been improved by 1.4 times over its predecessor, with camber rigidity being three times greater
Quote:
The car is running on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 195/45 tires. The front end features a model-specific staggered design for the honeycomb grille while carbon fiber-style embossing can be found on the front-lip spoiler, the side skirts and the rear diffuser.
Quote:
The new Suzuki Swift Sport also comes with an impressive range of active safety systems, including the Advanced Forward Detection, Dual Sensor Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control and more.
