Default Tata Indica eMax CNG discontinued?

Hi,

Wanted to know if the Tata Indica Emax CNG model with factory fitted CNG kit has been discontinued by the company.

I wanted to pick one up but was offered the Indica ev2 with a dealer fitted Lovato CNG kit and company warranty retained. The dealers claim that the emax has been discontinued and the ev2 + Lovato kit fitted by the dealer is the only option available.

The Tata motors website indicates that the model is still available.

http://cars.tatamotors.com/tata-indi...ech-specs.html

Would anyone have any idea on this. Location Mumbai.

Thanks.

Dealers might be right as the website doesn't include CNG in the price list:

Why do you want to buy such a hopelessly outdated model? I've owned an Indigo and can tell you this car's reliability is awful. There are so many better hatchbacks in the market today. If you are keen on low running costs, check out the small diesels (Tiago, Beat, Celerio).

Or you could buy a pre-owned diesel (e.g. Ritz diesel which depreciates hard).

They should retire the entire Indica / Indigo brand. That should go down in history as how not to make a car.

Thanks for replying. Was looking to buy this for in-city taxi (T-permit)use (Uber/Ola) etc.

This seems to be the only option with CNG and company engine warranty. The CNG wagonR is no longer available for T-permit use.

Are there any other car suggestions for this purpose . Thanks

How about the CNG Nano? I have seen quite a few Nano Taxis In Mangalore. Not seen a Nano CNG taxi though.

Or does uber not accept the Nano ?

Often seen as a common practice by all car manufacturers, commercial bookings are taken only after the vehicle completes a year in the market. This is done to safeguard the brand identity. Thus, we expect Tata Motors to start taking commercial bookings for the Tiago by early 2017. Supporting this is the fact that the Tata Indica is only available in two diesel variants while the CNG variants have been silently called off from the official website. We believe this makes way for an e-Max CNG Tiago in the not so distant future.
