Ouch.

But since it's only one model that they're offering and being a 7-seater, I guess it's at par with the Tiguan and slightly cheaper than the top-end Tiguan. Looking forward to more details.

And...too much. Sorry, Skoda. You had a chance to launch this at 31.99 and take the market. You chose not to.

Skoda wants to play the Kodiaq against Fortuner and Endevour. But, they launch a car which is practically a 5 + 2 (kids) seater, no room for 7 adults, and without a 3rd row AC and demand a price in the territory of Germans!

It would be around 43-44L on-road in Bangalore.

Phew, if they had priced is well, I would have been more confused between this and Endy.
After all, this has made a big mark in Europe.
Endy it is finally!

This is being compared with Endeavor and Fortuner, both of which retail at around Rs. 30.88L and Rs. 31.31L respectively. Kodiaq at Rs. 34.5L, I dunno. Will be touching the Rs. 40L barrier and more in some cities.

Was really looking forward to this car. Maybe pricing is around 2-3L more than expected?

Default Re: Skoda Kodiaq Preview. EDIT: Now spotted testing in India (page 6)

I'm not surprised by the pricing. Here in Finland, the Style-spec Kodiaq is more expensive than the Highline Tiguan by more than 3K (2.0 TDI, 150PS, 4x4, DSG, 5 seats v 7 seats). The Kodiaq is also more expensive than similar-spec Superb. Skoda is probably looking to bring in the Karoq at a slightly lower price than the Tiguan.

Definitely overpriced by at least 5 Lacs or so. Customers cross shopping with Endeavor will get lesser power, less torque, less capable 4WD, less road presence, no semi auto parallel park etc. And still pay 5 lakhs more? Does not make sense to me.

I think expectations on the pricing front were a bit optimistic (25-28L ones). However they could have been around the 30-32 mark. This will easily hit 42L on road. Suddenly the Germans feel value for money in this market.

Way overpriced and will not cut the cake in any sense for Skoda. If they had pitched it at sub 30 level they would have seen some decent sales. But at 34.5 level there will be very few buyers.

With the current brand image and service levels Skoda is not comparable to the Germans or even Toyota or even Ford. The Fortuner and Endeavour are fully capable Suvs and offer much better value.

Skoda should keep the Marigold Garland ready for themselves.
This kind of pricing means only one thing, Dead-On-Arrival.

The Fortuner and Endeavour will slaughter this completely, and there is nothing in the Kodiaq to justify it's 3 lakh premium over established competition.
