There are a couple of pickups in US that have coil sprung rear suspension, even independent. However in Tata's case I think its just cost that drove them to the old layout. Moreover in the indian scenario 99% of the TL's intended clientele (read cheap pickup buyers in eastern europe) are non auto enthusiast's.

I am yet to see a workhorse pickup (and by that I mean the Nissans, the Toyotas and the Isuzus) that has something other than leaf springs in the rear.

Like they have a 207 DI for commercial market and a TCIC powered telcoline presently, the vehicle in the picture would be a replacement for the former-a workhorse, And the one which figure's in the Bologna motor show would replace the Telcoline(TCIC)-a lifestyle product. What say?

The most notable exception being the TATRA trucks, also made in India. 6 X 6 off-roader + load carrier + fully independent suspension on all wheels (without leaf springs). And who can forget its unique air-cooled engine. Boy, what a truck! Check this link: Tatra Trucks India Limited

This vehicle is going to be by Fiat as their first 1tonne vehicle, under there brand name. 2.2 dicor supposes to run 100kms in 7.9 ltrs, which comes out to 12.65kmpl which is quite decent for a pickup category vehicle. Read this article for more details: italiaspeed.com

12.65 kmpl is great... Hope it's not at a cost of driving pleasure and power. Otherwise, it'll have same fate as the Sumo. The drivers hate it. Anyways, am just curious - don't the spy photographers fear any lawsuit and stuff? I suggest they check the law-books, and then engage in activities like posting the pics on the web khullam-khulla.

| Spotted a near complete production level vehicle today. I guess this solves the headlight issue. ![]() The interiors now with all the fittings dont look all that cheap (Although they may seem bad in the pic). THe fit and finish of the exterior leaves a lot to be desired though. The gear lever is taken straight from the Indigo. ![]()
