Default 2017 Nissan Terrano facelift's details leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs 9.99 lakhs

Thanks to Daniel for sending these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

Nissan will launch the 2017 Terrano facelift tomorrow. Ahead of the crossover's official launch, a set of images has been leaked, giving a detailed idea about the major changes made to the mid-life facelift.

According to these leaked images, the 2017 Terrano will get electronically foldable ORVMs that will now come with integrated turn indicators. There will also be a new Sandstone Brown colour on offer. However, most of the changes made to the Terrano facelift will be on the inside. The cabin will feature a new dual-tone layout on the dashboard, seats and door pads. The steering wheel will also be a new unit and will come with integrated control buttons.

The updated crossover will have cruise control and a new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and voice recognition. Other updates made to the cabin include new seat fabric, a driver armrest and white backlight illumination for the power window switches.

No mechanical changes have been made to the 2017 model. As a result, the Terrano facelift will continue to be offered with two engine options - a diesel and a petrol. The diesel will be a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder unit, available in two states of tune. The higher tune will be rated at 108 BHP @ 4,000 rpm & 245 Nm @ 1,750 rpm and will be available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or an AMT. Meanwhile, the same engine in the lower tune will develop 84 BHP @ 3,750 rpm & 200 Nm @ 1,750 rpm, while being mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The petrol will be a 1.6-litre mill that will churn out 103 BHP @ 5,750 rpm and 148 Nm @ 3,750 rpm, with a 5-speed manual gearbox being the only transmission choice on offer.

Thanks for the news.

I just think this is a half hearted effort. Where are features like climate control Nissan?

I am especially keen to have a look at the interiors of the terano which seem to be better than the gaudy ones of the Duster.

Does the Duster also come with the same 6-speed auto as Nissan?? The interior looks good in the pictures, will have to see in person as to how good it actually is. But still being pricier for the same bland interior as Duster, not sure how much will they sell. And Nissan still doesn't have the AWD??

There is enough going on that makes it a legitimate upgrade and not some sticker job so what was the need to mention "Chrome finish parking lever tip"!! Seriously? And the deep maroon upholstery over black interiors too seems unnecessary. It makes a clean interior look unnecessarily busy - Nissan should have just left it as a seat cover kind of option.

I always liked the Terrano's looks compared to the Duster and some of these improvements will make it even more desirable.

No Automatic Climate control? Duster already has it.
The interior scheme of the existing Terrano is better than this 'facelift'.
No real enhancements done.
The Duster' s Orangish red color looks better than this golden hue.
Rear AC vents removed for driver armrest? Not sure how latter warranted sacrificing the former.
Hard to recommend, even at the same price of Duster which is far from reality.
Nissan missed the trick here.

I like how they literally have to place labels on the car's new features to tell they have something new, saves a lot of time for their employees when the customers would keep asking "What is new?" LOL . The Marketing department is clearly overpaid at Nissan

On a serious note though, most of these improvements came to Duster quite some time back and Terrano looks like it still hasn't received them. Add to it that Nissan dealers are shutting shops everywhere, the Duster seems like a better bet if you like these cars.

Nissan has no idea on how to crack the Indian Market. It should bring in the latest Nissan Micra; instead of concentrating on low selling prohibitively priced Terrano or Kicks. Terrano hardly sells and this update isn't going to see it flying of the shelves. Nissan Kicks: if and when it's launched will also be very high priced niche product and will have to contend with it's stable mate the Renault Kaptur. Micra has been ruled out for the Indian market and that's a sad thing: Just look at the Micra: if sensibly priced and kitted out, it can become the premium hatch Indians would opt for.

Holy cow, that's audio control thingy. Just wondering how careless can these people get. A face lift was much needed, however it looks like they haven't touched the exteriors; Nissan just picked some more from Dusters parts bin. Auto Climate control sorely missed.

Ok, so Nissan chose to skip any change to the exterior (not even the alloys) to freshen the product. And sadly, their Marketing team still wants to impress us, but using words like 'enhances premium ness' (yes, typo copied from the presentation slides!) 'luxury feel' and want us to feel that the Terrano is a properly premium product that can be a worthy contender to the Creta.
Its the lack of a strong competitor, that gave Hyundai the space to over price the Creta, and still create a blockbuster out of it.. Terrano's face-lift would do little to either the competition, or Nissan itself.
Well, good luck Nissan.

PS: The presentation slides look like an answer to a 10 mark question, that one had no clue about, but had to attend anyway Repeating the same few key words, trying hard to use filler words and sentences, to make the fill the answer sheet, hoping for at least grace marks !

Marketing gem from the brochure: "Dual Tone Horn. Enhances active safety, as it can be heard from a long distance"

Wow, just wow! Donald Trump would be proud.

Full marks to Nissan for missing out on this opportunity. There are just few changes required for which there was no need to innovate. Picking up cues from other players in the market would have done the trick.

Even if Nissan copied interior dash design of Ciaz (top end trim Zxi or Zdi), it would have done the trick.

- Auto Climate Control
- Audio system with car play et. al.
- Reverse camera, GPS and Shark fin antenna
- Upmarket soft feel dashboard plastic
- Auto roll up and down for all windows with anti pinch
- Ergonomics (controls at disposal of driver)
- Plastic quality of door panels

May be out of sheer interest - change of alloy design

None of these call for a white body alteration and can be carried out through vendor support / part suppliers alone. The company can still add 50k to pricing with these changes (which is actually legitimate considering the additional investment).

This would have taken it multiple notches above Duster. The drive is already plush, the changes would have made it desirable.

Sad ! Not sure how these things get approved by their principals sitting overseas and these players are missing opportunities after opportunities in a growth oriented market like India.

Carlos Ghosn - A person with vision and wisdom is not going all out in India !

The facelift should have had at least these critical changes,
  • Re-positioning the power window switches on front door panels, the current one looks like after market fitment and constantly fouls with the legs.
  • Providing space for 1L water bottles in the front door panels
  • Getting rid of the decade old type head light level adjustment switch
  • Better use of space around hand-brake to provide charging point and bottle holders for rear passengers
  • Generate more leg room for rear passengers
  • Wider and Electrically adjustable ORVM's across all variants
It is in a way good that the rear A/C vents are removed, it improves legroom for the middle seat occupant. This kind of half-hearted facelift was not at all required.
