Am just unable to find the source again, but I remember reading that the Indigo LWB[dicor/petrol not very sure] would be launched at around 6.50 lakhs.

Just checked out the figures for the Indigo SW (Short Wheelbase) with the new engines on Tata Motors International Business website (I think the ones meant for the export market). The power for the diesel is the same as the earlier TDi but at 500 rpm less. With a slightly higher torque that is spread over a decent band of 1700-2700 rpm, the vehicle will have a good drivability as compared to the TDi in which the turbo fully kicks-in at around 2000 rpm only.

Converting the KW power figures to bhp gives us a clearer picture

Indigo Dicor
Power : 69.0615 bhp @4000 rpm (51.5 KW x 1.341)
Torque:14 kgm @1700-2700 rpm

Indigo Tdi
Power : 69.041 bhp @4500 rpm
Torque: 13.5 kgm @2500 rpm

================================================== ==

Indigo MPFI
Power: 62.5 KW X 1.341 = 83.8125 bhp @5500 rpm
Torque: 12 kgm @3000 rpm

Surprisingly the Tata website still hasn't updated the new Indica features and photos. Guess they have been bitten by the Fiat marketing bug

I dont think the actual specs have been updated yet. Most of the specs seem to belong to the older Indigos.

The 1.4 DICOR comes with 70BHP config too, and it is rumoured that it can do 90bhp too with a different tuning. Wonder what Tata will do? Any current info?

70 bhp may be adequate for the Indica, but on this enlarged Indigo which is very likely to be quite heavy - 70 bhp will KILL the vehicle before it is launched.

It will most probably be an 90 BHP engine with the petrol churning out 100 BHP.....

But the petrol gets 101PS. Any idea wether the SW version will get dicor, or is it just for the LW version?

I may be wrong but what I heard is you can put part of the blame on the Mahindra Renault Logan,If tata would have gone ahead with a more powerful Indigo prices would have increased further and Fuel economy would have taken a hit, something tata did not want to risk with the Logan hot on its heels[at least expected to be],

The indigo SWB should mostly have the same 70bhp dicor engine[if tata plans to dicorise the SWB for indian markets].

70 BHP for the LWB is way too less. And in all probability this is the 8 valve version not the 16 valve One. 90 BHP would have done good...

Agreed on your Point wrt Logan and Pricing ... but the Indigo XL (LWB) is no way comparable to the Logan either in Equipment level or Price.
