For me airbags only
ABS is most effective on icy roads. So can live without it.

ABS also helps you maintain control in any emergency braking situation, espeically if you need to steer and brake hard at the same time.

And in terms of stopping distance, the only surface on which ABS does not outperform normal braking (with a non-professional driver) is on a loose surface like gravel. On any other surface, even tarmac, ABS will reduce the stopping distance during an emergency braking manouever.

ABS - stirctly Yes
Air bag - its generally provided with the highest available model which becomes very pricey affair. I would like to get one if it can be made optional like ABS.

I voted for both airbags and ABS. Both are extremely vital for our safety and I hope manufacturers take the lead in educating people about their benefits and install them in EVERY model variant.

I would like to see both fitted as standard in all cars. My Palio has both and i find it difficult to drive another car without ABS. It is certainly helpful in city as well, you never know when an emergency braking is required.

Both ABS and Airbags..
They are both equally necessary. As to all the myths surrounding these, I am writing an article on this which I hope to publish soon.

Thank you Sreenivass for starting this thread.. Through each post, I am getting to know all the myths people have and I hope that my article is strong enough to dispel these myths..

ABS for sure, in my ZX VTEC. I just wonder if it is possible to have a upgrade, especially that the thailand version of ZX series i hear are equipped with ABS.
Airbags not really, unless i am convinced that the routine collisons in mumbai traffic would not deploy the airbags

Would love to have the complete menagerie of safety options - provided they work in Indian conditions. Case in point ABS and Indian potholes

Though this is a hilarious video,if airbags can be deployed on such light impacts imagine the trouble and costs involved to maintain a car with airbags in India, perhaps airbags will have to be indianised before they feature as standard fitment here.

Good going, most of us safety conscious so far. But it is interesting less percentage of people think Airbags are required than ABS. Dont we think Airbags help save lives in collisions ?

Have a Petra too. Would love to have both ABS and airbags. Let me know if you find a way to fit them.

I'd think this is a made up video (or) one of those faulty airbag systems. Braking suddenly can cause more pressure than this kind of impact. Its only My Humble Opinion.
