Am sure this car would be priced in the A-star segment. If i look at the body curves and head lamps, they for sure cannot design for such a low price. It is virtually impossible unless you compromise a lot on safety and quality (guess NANO's skeletons are falling one by one). Eventually by the time they plugin all the loop holes the price would have doubled for the NANO. So i bet suzuki with their reasonable safety credential would not play TATA.

India has traditionally been Suzuki's dumping ground once their kei cars are phased out in Japan. A few years down the line the Cervo will meet the same fate.
I'm sure this thread is just based on a poor rumor that this is Suzuki's one lac car. Heck after producing the 800 for all these years they still cant price it close to a lac, let alone a new car meeting present day safety and pollution regulations.

i dont think this car if launched in india will be sold in the same price bracket as the Tata Nano.

Is there any concrete information regarding the Maruti taking up 1 lakh rupee challenge and suggesting launch of this car against Nano as suggested by the thread title?

I guess MSIL had stated long back that they don't have any plans of entering the 1lac segment. Also entering such a segment would really hurt its plans for the Kizashi.

2010 Cervo Dimensions (its never going to be a 1lac car, most likely an Alto replacement)

Length 3,395 (mm)
Width 1,475 (mm)
Height 1,535 (mm)

The Cervo looks good to me, but then as Harish has said it could affect Suzuki's Kizashi plans.

I meant launching a 1lac car could prove to be disastrous for Suzuki's premium segment plans. Also Suzuki themselves have stated earlier that they wont be launching a 1lac car.

Check this link-- No small car from Maruti stable to rival Tata Nano

The Cervo is not and never will be a 1lac car. I would like to see it replacing the Alto.

The Cervo looks are better than Alto.
May be they will replace M800 with Cervo !
However from the looks, definitely it cannot be a 1Lac car?

And that ain't bad.
So if at all it looks similar, it is the i20 which copied the cervo,a Kei car which was released in Japan in 2006. Actually the rear looks good when compared to the likes of A-star and the upcoming Chevy Beat.

Point taken, I thought that the Cervo was for 1lac.

This is the car they should have brought in instead of the A Star and Ritz. It is a much better looker than the current crop of hatchnacks from any manufacturer in India. It is highly unlikely that this car would retail in India for less than 3 Lakhs unless they plonk a 660cc engine into it.

Maruti engineers are designing and building a low cost cost car in India. Maybe that would replace the M800 in its price point. But that won't be happening anytime soon(would take at least 3 years from now).
