Maybe coz he got smoked by a 525d which is why he is not very happy to give out any info but haven given the 525i, i can definatly tell you that its not a patcchh compared to the diesel...if you compare the 530i to the 525d, that would be pretty neck to neck.

I havent put up a review yet coz i am waiting to take her on the expressway next week so that i can put her thru the stress test!

Haha...yeah I took a very close look at both the 525D and the 325i (I liked the 320D to drive, but didn't like the fact that it was stripped of all high-end features) and ultimately plonked for a 325i. Couple of reasons; firstly the 5 is a big car, and I want to owner drive for the most part, so it would be a problem for me to park and stuff, secondly I thought I'd go the petrol way one more time before I switch to diesel for my next car! Yup, so 325i it is, should be here by the end of the week!

Post some pics of your new baby. BTW what accessories did you opt for?

Sorry this thread is getting hijacked, but...

I find that the engine sound is great, but the exhaust is very, very silent on the 325i. The 320i's exhaust has a nice sound to it at idle, but the 325i's exhaust is TOTALLY silent!

Sahil wait for more than 1000 km before giveing her a stress test. break her in easy and slowly get her used to her potential. lets have a first tank report my friend and some pictures to go with it. the expressway report you can give us later.

@ KBK congratulations on the 325i. the 325i is very silent with the exhaust notes, got one in the family and i dont like it. they should have had some of the features of the 325i in the 320d considering it is the only diesel in the lineup. suddenly it seems to be raining BMW's.

Well, from what I'm told there will be a better spec'd 320D some time next year. Thing is I didn't want to wait until then. So what I'm thinking is, once a few months pass, maybe try and get my hands on a nice AC Schnitzer or Hartge exhaust system to make the exhaust a little more lively! You could always opt for the sport muffler if all you're after is a nicer sound without any gain in performance.

As for it raining BMWs, yes they are going to take a fair slice of the pie at least until the new C class arrives and also until MBIL start offering better equipped Es as well.

kbk i was not only talking about the sound of the exhaust. i was talking about the entire car the 325i. the car is my cousins and as long as she is happy who am i to complain. i prefer the 320d. changeing the exhaust system would help in a great way. i would rather go all the way then just get an endcan and feel happy with the sound, performance is what i like.

i dont think the sales of BMW would be affected to a great extent with MBIL offering the new C class or a better equipped E class. it wholly comes in to the customers choice of brand at the end of the day. i prefer the E class to the BMW 5 series and the 320d to the C class. i am an E class owner and i did my homework before buying the car.

Thumbs up

@Sahil & kb75: Great choice of cars guys. Do put up your ownership reports! This certainly is BMW buying season.
A cousin of mine bought a 525 last year (I think) - she's very happy with it.
