Talking BusWorld Expo in Mumbai..

BusWorld Expo, world famous bus expo, has just kicked off in Mumbai.
This is its second edition in India and is currently situated in Goregaon Exhibition Centre till February 1. (Correct me if I am wrong)

Post all details, photos in this thread.
As per newspaper reports around 68 companies have participated.
For me the star of the show is definitely the Volvo B7R LE.

A bus expo in India?
That's good news!
This country desperately needs better buses.
So far, by and large, India's auto revolution has bypassed buses and trucks.

Let's have more such expos!
Look forward to the pics!

Cheers!

These buses are already in operation in Bangalore. Really good-looking they inspire one to leave behind private vehicles and opt for public transport. There was an article in TOI stating that about 100 more such buses would be added to the fleet soon enough.

In addition to the money collected from the tickets, they also sport real snazzy ads, adding to the revenue.

These buses also have a small camera fixed to the rear, which helps the driver when backing up.

They have also been involved in their fair share of controversy, wherein one B7R was set ablaze by the HAL junta for mowing down an employee.

There are 4 of these operational in Pune on dedicated routes on the BRT (Bus Rapid transit) platform. They have separate lanes so that they dont get scratched and disturb traffic. Sideeffect. Highway lanes shrunk from 3 to 2 and cause a chaotic traffic.

Yes I indeed saw that on my last visit to Bangalore and felt happier than seeing 4 buses taking up approximately 40kms of highways in Pune.

OT:

Have not been by these volvo's in Pune,In bangalore these volvos have a camera in the rear which is constantly active and the driver has a display screen in the front.I think the bus had automatic transmission[not sure].The digital display[route, bus no] idea is also good.

One thing I did not like is it has a theatre like seating arrangement so front seats are low while rear seat passengers are seated on a higher level. So the passengers who would be sitting behind have to actually climb up[steps] from the middle of the bus approximately, not exactly convenient when you have to do this with the bus moving and having your hands full[office bag ,laptop, shopping bags etc].

Wow! I love buses

Unfortunately I cannot make time to go to this show. If someone puts up a report with pictures, I would be very obliged.
