@ irags- Holden used to be quite a known name in India some years ago but ur right, but now is a different story. If u see yesteryear films like the late 70's or early 80's ull find that Holden Kingswood and the Holden Torana were very popular in India. They were made famous by the filmy guys who owned them for their americanised looks and the RHD versions. Ive seen a lot of Amitabh movies with him in the driving seat of a kingswood.
Also Morgan and Bristol cant be called really as unknown cars but maybe lesser known in India. Bristiol definately much lesser known but then ur right again, if one counts the no of people who know about bristol, it will amount to almost unknown.
@agspins- alpina are to BMW what Brabus is to Mercedes. They are basically BMW tuners.

Exactly my point Gogi sir! Even on an entusiasts's site like ours there would be very few people who would know about the Bristol & the Fighter! And how many know that Bristol doesn't give out it's car to the press for Road Tests despite selling cars with a base price of 175,000GBP? Hardly anybody apart from a handful I would say.

Hence my contention that they are unknown to India!

Absolutely, the Bristol Beaufighter was one car I was lucky to have a ride in when I visited London. I was told by the owner that there was a waiting for over 6 months for a two door, V-8 engined, ordinary looking (looked like a 70's FordCapri on steroids but a Big and Long Capri...very long) sports car. But u enter the car and ur transported into Rolls Royce type of luxury. Wall to wall plush carpet, burl wood, etc etc. The engine also has a mean exhaust note and its fast. like a huge impractical beast.

Innocenti - Milan. Not sure but someone told me that Innocenti was owned by Fiat in 1980's.
More on Innocenti in this link

One of their models which I found nice to look at.

EDIT: Those who think Lancia is an unknown manufacturer, all Fiat Palio 1.2 engines are Lancia's. Check the engine block which has Lancia embossed on it.

How about Morgan? They have a range of retro styled sportscars that are all completely hand built!

The Morgan Motor Company

As for engines, Opel Astra and Corsa engines of GM as also the 1.8L engines of Optra are Holden engines if I am not wrong.

Venturi from France is also unknown in India

Venturi

They have now a complete line up of ecological cars, the Fetish which is a mid rear engined sportscar , powered by battery only,245 hp , top speed 170 km/h and a astonishing price of 328 000 euros.Thats too much compared to the Tesla roadster which cost 100 000 US dolars

Tesla motors

www.teslamotors.com

Car assembled in uk in Lotus assembly plant where they buid the Elise , same chassis than the Tesla.top speed is about 240 km/h, also fully powered by an electrical engine , 3 hours on charge

International Cars & Motors Limited - HomePage

Look at this - Sonalika Rhino. Looks lot better than Sumo/Safari/Scorpio! There is a news item that 50,000 units are planned for export to Indon and other countries!

Any idea on GB/engine etc?

Sorry if this is already discussed elsewhwere
